It may be that co-sleeping is beneficial but bed-sharing is not, partly because adult beds. The Peppercorn Dining case is the second of several cases at the end of Part 2 in the text. The Part 2 chapters have described the fundamental processes of organization development, including entry and contracting, data gathering, data feedback, intervention design, and evaluation. The Peppercorn case is rich in detail around how a small group of consultants began an IM process and collected a broad range of data. It is a very action oriented case in that it ends at a natural breakpoint in the IM process – a set of data has been gathered, needs to be analyzed, and a process for feeding back the date needs to be designed. It is a good case to give students a chance to think through these issues, propose some alternatives, and discuss the pros and cons of different approaches. (Note: If this type of case is appealing to the instructor, the BR Richardson Timber case in the Integrative Case section at the end of the text has a similar structure.)…

Since the dawn of technology, mankind developed a thirst for perfection, constantly trying to improve on their design, functionality and raw power. As the focus grew more towards power and functionality, the environmental factor became nothing more than a mere myth. It was not until recently that the effects of environmental factors were put into consideration, causing this generation to be forced to clean up the mess of the last. The obvious effects of the environment such as increase in temperature, unusual weather patterns and high amounts of air, sea, light and sound pollution has called for the efforts of nations, NGOs and organizations in facing these environmental global challenges.…

Recently we have participated in several integrative negotiation exercises. This kind of negotiation usually contains several negotiable issues, thus clearly understanding your preference and priority are the crucial important step which allows you to continue future trade-offs. We have been talking a lot on how to create values by developing your preference, however, I found I sometime fail to maintain my priority and always deviate from my major preference in the piratical negotiation. I want to share my experience of the case. This is a typical case of integrative negotiation which we actually have several different negotiable issues. As the role of Alphexo, during my previous preparation stage, I realized possible sales restriction and profit-sharing are the issues would bring me biggest benefits, so I decide to focus on them. I also decide to use venture leadership and I.P rights to create extra value if we could not reach the deal. At the beginning of the negotiation, I think I did a good job because I clearly expressed my preference to my partner that I highly value restriction and profit-sharing. Since both of us persisted on that, my partner then moved to the I.P rights. We spent a quite long time on negotiation of the I.P rights, and gradually, my concentration deviated from my decided priorities to this side issue. I started to stay firmly on the I.P rights, and my partner then switched back to the sales restriction and asked for my concession on restriction. I unintentionally agreed to move from 18 months/18months to 6 months/18months.…

Liquidity has been a very elusive topic with very little academic research coverage in Modern Finance. Cohesive definition of this phenomena is far from agreed upon. On the outset liquidity, with a number of dimensions and perspectives, presents a zig-saw puzzle of a common anticipation of uncertain worst loss. This loss is to be incurred while liquidating a large portfolio in want of cash. Financial debacles like Black Monday (1987), Asian Crisis(1997), LTCM (1998), Russian Bond Crisis(1998), Amaranth(2006), subprime MBS/CDO(2008) and others prompted much needed coverage on this topic. Institutions, Regulators, and Investors alike all prefer to have a measure which can be integrated in their day to day decision making keeping the financial risk management in control. Keeping this in mind liquidity research coverage has been on the VaR line of thinking. VaR oriented thinking has prevailed in prominence because of its simplistic interpretation and ease of computation in spite of it being not a coherent measure of risk. This paper reviews various prevalent empirical and theoretical models to measure market liquidity risk. Empirical models use various aspects of Bid-Ask spread and volume to determine the price impact of liquidation and factor the adverse impact in VaR calculation. The theoretical models tend to minimize the price impact by focusing on optimal execution strategy based on Demand-Supply curve. Though empirical tractability and parameter estimation of the theoretical models is yet to be accomplished. All the models tend to achieve a single measure which can be added to the existing risk measurement framework.…
