Self Reflection On Mayo Clinic

Looking forward to this upcoming year, I am extremely excited for all the opportunities for professional growth at Mayo Clinic. I expect this experience will provide the development I need to become a competent and compassionate nurse. Reflecting on my last two years of nursing school, I have learned an incredible amount that will help me this year but my learning does not stop there. I have several goals for my professional development in the four main CCEI headings: assessment, communication, clinical judgment, and safety. I expect to accomplish these goals through self- reflection and support from my professors.
My first goal this year is to be able to identify further tests I need to conduct when there is abnormal assessment data. Through my conductions of assessments last semester, I feel more comfortable with assessing patients but most of
First is that I will communicate more efficiently with inter/intraprofessional teammates. Specifically, I will feel more confident in receiving verbal orders and will read back every order. Secondly, my documentation skills will be more concise and accurate. To improve reading back verbal orders, I will practice reading back orders with classmates. I will also ask my professors for critiques on how to improve my documentation. After receiving their feedback, I will apply it to future documentations.
Thirdly, my goal for clinical judgement is to continue and learn how to prioritize appropriately. This skill has been something I have been working on last year but I still need major improvement to prioritize like a competent nurse. To reach this goal I will rationalize what tasks need to be done with my patient and how important they are even if some of the tasks are not life threatening. My professors can help me reach this goal by continuing to give me practice examples of prioritization and descriptions of why that task needs to be prioritized higher than
