Self Reflection And Analysis
As a freshman at SUNY Plattsburgh, I would have never imagined my self where I am today. I was nervous about beginning the communication disorders and sciences major because I wasn't sure if it was the right fit for me or if it was something I would be interested in. Coming into college, the only background I had in communication disorders was the experiences I shared with my two younger brothers. They both went through speech therapy because they struggled with articulation. Two of my older cousins also graduated from this program at SUNY Plattsburgh many years ago. They both encouraged me to pursue it as a major and only had positive things to say about it. As a first semester freshman, I took Introduction to Communication Disorders …show more content…
She asked me if I was able to explain to her what the audiogram read. I was able to tell her what type of hearing loss existed and in which ear it was in. This gave me the confidence that I understood what I was learning. Based on the results of the capstone exam, I still need a lot more education to be able to further advance my knowledge in the major. This major goes in depth on many different concepts and it is hard to learn all of them in four short years. Ways to improve learning outside of the classroom are observing in a clinic, reading articles and journals, watching videos and practicing at home. Over the years, I have gained very close friends in the major in the year ahead of me and below. The friends ahead of me have guided me through the years and have given me insight on what to expect throughout the difficult classes. Now, because of them, I have been able to give the years below me insight and help on all aspects of the major. As a graduating senior, I now can say I know more information compared with the information I started with. I am confident that when I eventually have a job in the field, the information I have retained over the past 4 years will be able to be applied in the real

This semester’s CC112 course was quite interesting for me. I thought I wouldn’t do well because of the topic, controversial issues, but it actually tuned out I was wrong. I enjoyed learning and writing about the never ending controversial issues around the world. I’ve witnessed a great amount of improvement in my work since coming into this course. Taking CC112 has helped me better my organization and writing skills by practicing the writing process with each essay, being able to incorporate outside sources into my work using MLA standards of quotation and reference, and being able to write a correct works cited page according to MLA standards. Based on the comments I received from my professor at the beginning of the semester, I needed to work on these very things.…

On the self-assessment inventory, I scored between 76 and 88 out of 100 on each key competency except for the Change and Across Cultures competencies. My scores were within the numerical range for 68% of managerial professionals that completed this self-evaluation. For the most part, I see myself as very good on a number of the skills such as balancing my personal and work life, embracing uniqueness, supporting the goals of a team, and making ethical business decisions. For the Across Cultures competency, I am lacking in global experience and the skills to recognize the differences of various cultures and customs. In addition, I need to improve on recognizing, leading, and implementing adaptations when needed by teams and organizations.…

I have always found it interesting how everyone can have a different learning style. It does not mean that one person is smarter than the other, and vice versa. Everyone is completely different with how they intake information and their learning skills. My best learning skill is Kinesthetic I am more a “hands on” learner. I have always been more successful and learned better once I actually did something hands on. I can learn verbally, and visual as well but that is my best learning technique.…

Just as the AP course positively impacted me, with the assistance of the Woodford R. Porter Scholarship, I know I can have the same impact on the University of Louisville community. At the University of Louisville, I hope to earn my degree in chemical engineering. I do understand that this degree requires a lot of knowledge about mathematics. Because I was able to overcome difficult academic situations in high schools, I know I am better prepared to deal with these challenges in college. Furthermore, my experiences of struggling in my AP courses have helped me become more sympathetic to my peers. If I see one of my peers struggling, I will provide assistance to them because I know how hard it is to ask for help. By working with my peers, we can ultimately develop a friendship inside and outside the classroom. By developing these relationships, we can learn from one another. While I cannot change my peers’ perspectives about certain issues, I can introduce them to a new perspective, my perspective. By introducing my peers to my perspective, I have helped them become more self-aware as they can do the same for me. In essence, by attending the University of Louisville, I know I can uphold the University’s mission by improving my peers’ lives by sharing my own lived experiences in classrooms. By sharing my narrative and experiences, I know I will create a more diverse…

As I write this journal, I sit in a coffee shop and feel that sitting in a coffee shop to reflect on my week is so soothing. I find that moments like this are what helps me keep sain. Moments like this are helpful to me,as I get to sit in a coffee shop and listen to my favorite music, after a long day. I admit continuing to write journals is not easy for me, as reflecting on my week can be challenging. An example, this week was good and no concerns arise. In comparison to other difficult weeks I previously had. This week I even had a hard time thinking of what to write but I push myself to complete it. I feel that this week was very calm for me, which I am so thankful for. As the past weeks were so stressful, due to having several crises…

During my college level education, I have been very intrigued by the field of science. Specifically, the subject which interests me the most is microscopic molecules and organisms. The class that I believe sparked my interest was my second semester of general biology at Paradise Valley Community College. During this class, I was introduced to the intricate details of cells and the idea that microscopic organisms outnumber all other living things on Earth. This class also provided me with information about viruses, which quickly became most interesting topic for me.…
