Self-Praise Is For Losers
The last and final trait that I think a good leader needs is being humble to himself and others. This means that you have to stay true to yourself and others, in the movie, Coach Boone's stayed humble to himself when problems arose against him. Also, in the movie when racism was everywhere after they went home Coach Boones didn’t care and still stayed humble. “Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble.” - John Madden. This basically means that you can’t succeed with self-praise and that you have to stay humble to yourself to really be a winner. Also, it wasn’t just Coach Boone's that was humble in Remember the Titans, it was also Julius and the other captain when the team was in trouble.

The first type of leadership that will be discussed is the trait theory of leadership. This type of leadership has been proclaimed obsolete by itself in determining leadership ability. According to Bass(2008) this type of leadership began to lose ground in the 1940 's. This leadership theory has been making a comeback in the last few years. According to Kirkpatrick and Locke(1991) leaders possess certain core traits that are noted in successful leaders. It has been made rather clear that great leaders are different than other people and feature different traits. The teacher in this movie was a prime example of this. This leader demonstrated self-confidence, stamina, motivation, courage, skills, and excellent performance in his role as the leader of these students. When the going got tough, he got even tougher and retained a stamina and will that went beyond what other people would tolerate. Many before him had quit and yet he refused to succumb to the same fate.…

Since the beginning of time, humans have always depended on leadership for survival. Citizens follow governments, armies need generals to lead them into battle, and businesses need executive officers. However, just because someone leads others does not mean that he possesses the correct qualities for being a true leader. In order to understand what qualifies as a good leader, one must first define the qualities needed in good leadership. Often times in literature, leaders come across as heroic, but just saving people from an oncoming danger does not truly make on a good leader. On the contrary, the individual and heroic performances of a leader accomplish almost nothing if a leader does not put the needs of his people at the forefront of his endeavors. In light of this, an excellent leader possesses the ability to bring out the best of his people, and the ability to create a positive atmosphere.…
