Self Injurers Harm
Researches states 1 in 6 teenagers attempt self harm at least once. Self injurers do not get support because most do not have friends or supporting parents. Many are happy and find peace when they are alone. However, some find support online since it is the only place where most answers are found. Making friends with people online or joining online supportive groups is where most of these deviant groups go to since it is the only place they get good support and care. At times when some of self injurers talk to adults or professionals near them, most are not helpful and tell them to simple “ignore” what is going on. In the Article Cyber Communities of Self-Injurers, by Patricia A. Adler and Peter Adle, it talks about many self injurers seeking out supportive communities on the internet. Instead of people losing hope and maybe taking their lives the internet is a resource for these people to find a place where people will accept them and care for them. It is a place where friends can be made and for the people to open up to their problems and overcome them with the help of these supportive communities. Moreover, it is a helpful resource that can save someone's life. There are numbers online that can be contacted if help is needed, free online chats with therapists, and also shelter that folks can go to if they feel unsafe.
To conclude the internet is very helpful to deviant groups such as self injurers. Online communities are very caring and supportive for these group of people. It can allow them to have a chance to open up and make friends, something they were not able to do around them. It can save someone from from hurting themselves and taking their life. Furthermore, it is a chance where people can start new and have a new beginning to their lives and move away from the bad memories and people and do nothing but emotionally and physically hurt

The amount of online communities along with users is on the rise. They are used to IM, blog, track people, live virtual lives and many other things. Is all this really necessary on an everyday basis? While some may disagree, others including Theodora Stites believe they are necessary. In her article “Someone to Watch Over Me,” Stites believes these social network sites can fulfill the need to connect with others online just the same as in person. However, she only states the positive aspects that come with these sites and fails to explain the dangers. Stites doesn’t have a strong argument given the fact that she fails to include evidence of her reasoning. Also she fails to explain the negatives that come with social networking sites, which may include becoming addicted to creating fantasies, stalking others, and putting your life in extreme danger.…

An on-line community cant possible be a substitute for a real community. I agree with quote because an online community is like living a fantasy life everything you desire at the palm of your hands while in reality you have to work for it. The “fantasy life” could and it will lead low lack of social ability to communicate and interact with others as well as low public engagement where it goes back to social skills. Again this leads to anxiety, frustration and depression. According to a quote in the article “after 13 years stat side their rates of depression and drug problems had almost doubled to 32 percent from 18 percent” lasn ,295. This is not only effecting peoples life style but also their physical health, and it will cause…

There are also psychological effects in regards to cyberspace. Adolescents can no longer do what those who lived 30 years go can do. The limited sensory experiences of cyberspace have some significant disadvantages- as well as some unique advantages - as compared to in-person encounters. Since communicating only with typed text, people have the option of being themselves, expressing only parts of their identity, assuming imaginative identities, or remaining completely anonymous. Anonymity has a disinhibiting effect that cuts two ways. Sometimes people use it to act out some unpleasant need or emotion, often by abusing other people. Anonymity also allows them to be honest and open about some personal issue that they could not discuss in a face-to-face encounter.…

The internet could be a great thing, but also bad. People can abuse the way they use the network. Examples of abusing the network would be posting inappropriate pictures or bullying a person. In my eyes, the internet has turned into a social media network; if you want people to know where you are and what you ate for breakfast or even how you are feeling; you can post it all online so all of their friends can read it. Facebook or Twitter is a good example to search for people, Twitter people can literally follow famous people around but it’s the person running the account telling everyone where they went to eat for lunch; so people have a choice to use the program or not. In my perspective that is just scary, I wouldn’t want unknown people knowing where I am. While using the web, you need to be very careful what websites you browse and who you talk to because you never know who is on the other side of the computer. A good thing about the internet is you can find jobs more easily, shop online, read books, research any topic, and access your own bank account all online. I can see and understand why people can get addicted by using the internet.…

As a student, you benefit highly from the Internet as you always have to deal with it in the daily student life. You can research the different topics for your assignment and write them down which avoids you stressing and thinking about the answers yourselves and this also saves you a lot of time and is faster for you to do. Any information on any topic under the sun is available on the internet. You can research the different topics through the search engines; Google, Yahoo etc that are at your service 24 hours a day, at any time. Also information on medical issues is always being updated and as days go by there is an increasingly number of people who use the internet to research medical diseases and issues. The information that we can collect using the internet is denser then an encyclopaedia, therefore we are confident that information gained from the internet is more detailed and therefore we can get a few extra marks here and there. regardless of the benefits that the Internet has for us as a student, it can also help our friends as we can share the information that we have found out by simply sending them an attached file email, which again is a cheap and easy form of sharing information and communicating. This leads us to the big advantage of the Internet, which is communication. The main target of the Internet has always been communication and although the Internet has already excelled beyond expectations, there are still modern improvements being made in…

The internet highway has become the main source of information for many people. It also has become a form of communication for young adults and teenagers due to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. I personally know several young people who spend a great deal of time on these sites. I also believe this can lead to obsessive and addictive behavior if there is no balance. Most of the teens I know have very active social lives. I think these sites are only used as a form of communication or a way of expressing their thoughts and feelings. On the other hand, these sites can be detrimental in that they may lead to cyber bullying and arguments which sometimes lead to violence.…
