In 2001, Dean Kamen announced the arrival of the first self-balancing, zero emissions personal transportation vehicle: the Segway® Personal Transporter (PT). Companies in a variety of different industries have realized the benefits of integrating Segway personal transportation PT into their business operations. The weakness for Segway’s human transporters is primarily laws which restrict legal riding areas, such as, sidewalks or streets. Different states vary in laws and regulations on having the transporters on the roads or sidewalks; and being a new product in the marketplace, it will take some time for these laws to change.
