Seed Lab
I. Purpose/Question:
A. What is the variable you are testing? Radish seed vs. Pea seed

B. Question 1: How does seed type affect when the seeds germinate?

C. Question 2: How does seed type affect the length of the stem?

II. Research: List two pieces of information you learned about the variable you are testing below. The radish stem was longer. Both seeds germinated equally fast.

III. Hypothesis:
Make these an “If-then” statement and do not use pronouns (I, we, he, she). Remember to be specific and don’t use words such as “it” or “you”, and never ever use a person’s name.
A. Hypothesis 1: If the pea seed is in the light then the pea seed won’t grown as fast compared to the radish seed in the light.

B. Hypothesis 2: If the radish seed is in the water then it will grow faster compared to the pea seed.

IV. Results:
A. Table 1 (Seed Germination) Number of Seeds Germinated Days To Germinate Pea Seed Radish Seed 1 0 0 4 3 3 5 3 3 6 3 3 7 3 3 8 3 3

B. Table 2 (Stem Length) Days To Grow Pea Seed Radish Seed Average 0 0.0 0.0 0.0 4 0.5 0.5 0.5 5 0.5 0.5 0.5 6

The hypothesis stated that since the germinated peas were still alive, they would contain a higher rate of respiration needed to remain healthy compared to the dried peas and glass beads.…

Name _____________________________ Regents Biology Period _________ Date ______________________ LAB ____. ANATOMICAL EVIDENCE OF EVOLUTION In our studies of the anatomy and development of animals we have discovered that many living creatures that look quite different on the surface have similarities underneath their skin that suggest that they are related to each other. This is evidence that living creatures have evolved, or gradually changed over time. In this lab, you will learn about homologous, analogous, and vestigial structures and their value as evidence for evolution.…

In procedure one, the purpose was to determine the affect the temperature has on both sprouted and nonsprouted peas. My hypothesis is that if the peas are geminated then they will show a higher amount of cellular respiration in comparison to nongerminated peas. Also, if the different types of peas are placed in the colder water then they will show a slower rate of respiration than they will in room temperature water (Carolina Biological, 2006).…

This can affect the experiment due to the size of the teaspoon and the amount of solution that was added to the radish seeds. Another error within measurement would be the different way of measuring each radish seed. I admit that, after measuring so many seeds, I got confused with the measurement of growth and the actual measurement of the seed itself. This could affect the result in the accuracy of growth rate within each salt solution. As well as making sure that the control group is controlled throughout the experiment. This could affect the result within the conclusion of deciding if the hypothesis is supported or…

In this lab we tested to see if the amount of sunlight exposed to the basil seed, would affect the growth. The null hypothesis for this experiment was that there would be no statistical difference between the green, yellow, and red basil seeds’ growth. Three alternate hypotheses are: If we expose the green seed to 48 hours of sunlight and the yellow seed to 24 hours of sunlight, then the green seed with grow more than the yellow. The opposite of this hypothesis would alternate 2. Another alternate hypothesis is (3): if we expose the yellow basil seed to 24 hours of sunlight, and the red for 0.5 hours a day, then the yellow basil seed will grow more than the red. The opposite of this one would be alternate 4.…

Egg Lab Write Up The purpose of this lab was to depicked the many properties of diffusion such as isotonic, hypotnonic, and hypertonic, so that students could have a clear visual example to go by for future refrences. We also did this to learn about selective permeability and osmosis. Our original hypothesis stated that the vinegar would react with the calcium in the shell to create CO2 bubbles. Note I said the original hypothesis as this experiment took coarse over a four day period, in which a new variable was added each day therefore changing our hypothesis.…

Thorough the investigation, the African daisy was always the first seed to grow in both containers A and C on about day 4. This was contradictory to my secondary research as in almost all of my sources, it was proved that plants that had classical music played to them grew faster, stronger and more healthy whereas in my investigation, the plants that had classical music did not grow at all even after the investigation had finished. The results from these seeds disproved my hypothesis as these seeds had classical music played to them each day and did not grow at all. There were no factors different in the handling of the three plants as they were each given the same amount of water each day and the amount of time that music was played to them was the same. Tampering was also removed from the seeds which show that I did not take care of one plant better than the other as I was not home when the music was played to the plants and that each day there was the same amount of water and sunlight given to the plants each…

In this lab we will look at how molecules move across the membrane of a cell . Osmosis is the movement of water across a cell membrane. In osmosis the cell membrane is selectively permeable, which allows for the membrane to control what types of substances that passes through.Transportation can either be passive or active.Passive transport does not require the use of added energy where as active transport requires the cell to use energy.…
