Seattle Prep High School Observation Report
When I think of Seattle Prep, I think of many amazing things. I am excited to have the chance to go to a school such as Seattle Prep. I’ve done copious research on my high school choices; Seattle Prep has stood out the most to me compared to other high school alternatives. After attending open house with my family and shadowing Liam Mcnett, I felt at home and welcomed, Seattle Prep is the school for me.

Seattle Prep has amazing classes, clubs, and collegio program. While touring I loved each and every class; the collegio class stood out to me the most. The integration of Social Studies, English, and religious values made the class unique and interesting. I was enticed in what students were learning during every class. After my touring, I

Caseworker Brittany Martinez completed a face to face visit with Chardonnay Hunnicutt at John Horn High School located in Mesquite, Texas. I sat with Chardonnay and Caseworker Erica Elliott in the Assistant Principal’s office. Chardonnay was wearing a purple shirt with blue jeans. Chardonnay’s hair’s appeared to be worn in an Afro style, she stated she had taken her braids out the night before. I asked Chardonnay how school was going. Chardonnay stated that her grades were good, but in one of her classes, she was failing until she turned in a missing assignment. I asked Chardonnay if she had gotten any trouble lately. Chardonnay stated she couldn’t remember when she got in trouble, but she did remember that she was upset about something. Chardonnay…

“At Damien Memorial School, what makes us different, unites us.” Over the years that I’ve been here at Damien I’ve come to realize that the quote above is rather true in ways that other schools haven’t quite experienced. Despite the fact that we’re a pretty small school compared to Punahou, Kamehameha, Iolani, or Sacred Hearts, we’re all different whether it’s our personality or our ethnic backgrounds. These two things help to unite all of us as a community to understand people whose ancestors are from different parts of the world and how it has shaped someone and their life. If it weren’t for the diversity amongst the students and teachers at Damien, it would be boring because everyone would be the same. Nevertheless, diversity allows us to…

The article I read is about the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The topic of the article deals with having students get an earlier start in the school year, and ending early. Washington Elementary School is located in West Orange, New Jersey in a neighborhood where mostly African American and Hispanic businesses and people were surrounding the area. As I arrived to the school or left, I usually only saw minorities in the surrounding neighborhood. This correlated with the students I saw in the classroom I observed, and throughout the school. In the classroom there was a total of 17 students, all of which were minorities. Ten of the students are Hispanic and seven are African American. I did not see too many White or Asian students throughout the school, or in the neighborhood. However, the racial and ethnic demographics for West Orange showed that the majority of the population is White. Statistics on race and ethnicity show that 62.1% of West Orange identify as being White, 17.1% as being Black, 10% as being Hispanic, 8.1% as being Asian, 2.4% as being two…
