3:46 PM Many people wonder why we have the four seasons, Winter, Summer, Spring, and Fall. These seasons let us know things like what to wear, things to eat and places to go. Some people just think that's the way the world is, But other people want to dig deeper. When people think of winter they think of snow, hot chocolate and other winter activities, Whereas Summer we think of the beach, and ice cold lemonade. Well let's think about this- Why do we have seasons, and What causes it? When you think about this question most us would draw a blank, usually we don’t think farther than the names of those four seasons. Now- we uncover the facts and details of our four seasons. When the world rotates it tilts at different angles towards the hemispheres, North and South. When the earth's axis is tilted toward the Northern hemisphere, The northern hemisphere gets more light and warmth for more hours of the day, So then it is colder and darker for more hours of the day in the Southern hemisphere. This information meaning that it would be Summer time in the Northern hemisphere and winter time in the Southern hemisphere. The Summer Rotation: This rotation is called the "June Solstice", this solstice usually occurs starting June 21st or 22nd. During this solstice is when we have the most hours of daylight, the sun's beam hits the earth at a high angle. This beam does not hit most other parts of the world, but where it does hit, it gives off a lot of energy (meaning heat). When the earth's Northern hemisphere is pointed more to the sun, it is representing that it is summer time in the Northern hemisphere and winter in the Southern. The Winter Rotation: During the winter rotation the sun is shallow and not much light is given off, which means only a little

As the earth spins on its axis, producing night and day, it also moves about the sun in an elliptical (elongated circle) orbit that requires about 365 1/4 days to complete. The earth's spin axis is tilted with respect to its orbital plane. This is what causes the seasons. When the earth's axis points towards the sun, it is summer for that hemisphere. When the earth's axis points away, winter can be expected. Since the tilt of the axis is 23 1/2 degrees, the North Pole never points directly at the Sun, but on the summer solstice it points as close as it can, and on the winter solstice as far as it can. Midway between these two times, in spring and autumn, the spin axis of the earth points 90 degrees away from the sun. This means that on this date, day and night have about the same length: 12 hours each, more or less.…

The summers are characterised as being short and cool, with average temperatures of between -10°C and +10°C but temperatures can reach up to +30°C. Approximately half of the Earth is illuminated at any time by the Sun. At the equator the daytime is almost twelve hour in length. This is because In the Northern Hemisphere, the length of the day is longer during the months when the North Pole is tilted towards the Sun and shorter during the months when it's tilted away from the Sun. The reverse is true for the Southern Hemisphere. The Equator is exactly halfway in between the poles. So it wouldn't make any sense for a day on the equator to be longer when one of the poles is tilted towards the Sun, and shorter when the other one…

Also, during both seasons drives must give the same attention as usual on the road. During winter and summer both require following the speed limits as a state law, following speed limits has nothing to do whether it’s boiling outside or snowy. So as overall, driving during the summer and winter do share some similar points together although they have many differences put…

The snow never disappeared throughout the winter. Making snow men, having snowball fights, lying on the snow, and skiing through the mountains, my friends and I would indulge in the vast shimmering snow world forever. People say that there are four seasons in Vermont: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction. That is partially true—it even snowed at the end of April last year—except for the warm spells that bring unforgettable, charming maple leaves in the fall. The fall of Vermont is colorful, decorated by all the maples trees in green, yellow, orange, red, and even a mix or gradient change between them. The maple leaves form the rainbows near sky, the fineries of mountains, the unique blanket on road. They are the star and protagonist in the fall; they never fail to catch people’s eye. Never did I feel so close to the nature when I was in Vermont, living next to the green mountains and running streams.…

New Orleans only had one season: hot and humid. During what everyone else called “the winter”, it was just a little less hot and humid. During what they called “the summer”, it was extra hot and humid. But, no matter what month or day - it was always hot and humid. When I moved to Charlotte, for the first time in my life, I experienced all four seasons of the year. Countless trees would change their leaves into different colors. And after all the leaves fell, they would be replaced by little buds of green. There was also a magical event when cold, solid precipitation fell down from the sky, covering all of the earth’s ground with a beautiful blanket of white. The only solid thing that would ever fall from the sky in New Orleans was the occasional beads and cups thrown at you during a Mardi Gras parade. In North Carolina, we would huddle around the bright burning fire to keep safe from the cold weather. In Louisiana, we…

The equinoxes might be expected to be in the middle of their respective seasons, but temperature lag means that seasons appear later than dates calculated from a purely astronomical perspective. The actual lag varies with region. Some cultures regard the autumnal equinox as "mid-autumn", others with a longer lag treat it as the start of autumn. Meteorologists use a definition based on months, with autumn being September, October and November in the northern hemisphere, and March, April and May in the southern hemisphere.…
