Scrooge Change In A Christmas Carol

A famous American philosopher, Wayne Dyer, once said, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” If you realize what you have done wrong, you can change how you act the next time you are in the same situation. In the play, A Christmas Carol, the main character, Scrooge, was only able to look upon money, nothing else. To change, Scrooge had to change the way he looked at money and his life; he needed to focus on the more important things, like family and caring for others. In the beginning of the play, Scrooge was extremely greedy. For instance, in the text Scrooge remarked rudely, “If they would rather die they had better do it and decrease the surplus population.” Scrooge completely insulted the poor people and refused to give any money to help them. Scrooge is a man of money, and with that comes the choice of either using it for kindness or for himself. Yet again this shows how greedy Scrooge really was. Scrooge also lashed out at Bob Cratchit (his employee) and questioned,”Still you expect me to pay a day's wage for a day of no work?” Scrooge is threatening Bob and refusing to pay him if he

As stated by Wayne Dyer, if you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Thanks to the wonderful lessons each ghost taught Scrooge, he finally realized that he was ready to change and be a better person. If every person stops and thinks about it, everyone should use Scrooge’s story for their own lives. We can change become better people. Scrooge shows that if we have courage and determination we can be better people. This is the whole point of the play. Change is possible, all you have to do is put your mind to it.
