PART I:
SCENARIO 2:
1.Purpose- Why does the moon appear to change over the course of the month? Research-Position of the sun, Earth, and moon at different times of a month Hypothesis-Relationship of the sun, Earth, and moon create shadows on the moon
Experiment-Light bulb represents sun, large beach ball represents Earth, and small foam ball represents moon
2.The three variables Lizzie can control are the rotation of the Earth and moon and the position they are in. Lizzie can control them by rotating them and changing the position by turning the balls around slowly.
PART II:
PROBLEM 3:
Purpose- Why are people staying away from the beach?
Research- It seems people stay away from beaches when there is oil spill in it or the pollution level is too high
Hypothesis- If the ocean water is dirty, then the pollution is getting worse and contaminating the waters, making the beach crowds decrease
Experiment- Take water samples of beaches in different areas. Examine the water samples to see if they look any different; if one is dirtier than another.
Identifying Variables: The independent variable would be the waters. The dependent variable would be the location or area of the beaches that are or aren’t being avoided.
Data: The data table should have the rows of the different beaches that are being tested. One column should be for the days that the water was collected and the water condition should be recorded.
Analysis- Record and collect water samples of beaches in different areas for several weeks.
Conclusion- Based on the data, if the samples are dirty in the beach that is being avoided, then it is pollution that is causing the beach crowds to decrease.
