The purpose of the project was to see if Dr. Pepper is a meat tenderizer like Coke. The type of meat used which were pork chop, beef roast, and chicken breast is the independent variable. The mass of meat in grams is the dependent variable. The constants are the size of the beaker, temperature of the air surrounding, the amount of Dr. Pepper, the time the meat spent in the Dr. Pepper, and the original mass of meat. The results after being in the Dr. Pepper is the pork chop 16.1 grams, chicken breast 13.5 grams, beef roast 13.1 grams. The results of the distilled water were and vinegar were. The hypothesis which stated that the mass of the pork chop will increase was supported because the results was 16.1 grams and the chicken breast and beef roast results came out to the thirteens. If the experiment was repeated the type of meat would be changed and the type carbonated drink would change just to see if more than just Coke and Dr. Pepper are meat tenderizers. The possible experimental errors are the way the meat is weighed either with the Dr. Pepper all drained off or some of the Dr. Pepper still dripping off of the meat can change the mass of the meat if the other meats were weighed the other way. The beaker used could have been contaminating the meat inside of the beaker causing the meat to react in any different…

My experiment was to find out how the type of liquid can affect the amount of drops that can fit on a penny. I used 3 liquids to test my question and they were water, rubbing alcohol, and vegetable oil. I discovered that water could hold the most drops and vegetable oil and rubbing alcohol could hold about the same amount of drops. My hypothesis was if I use water then it will hold more drops than vegetable oil. My hypothesis was supported by my data. The average number of drops for water was 93 whereas the average for vegetable oil was only 36. Obviously water held more as the data shows that not one group had more vegetable oil drops then water drops.…

The Scientific Process is commonly represented as a linear process, but is better represented by a web or cyclic process because there is no distinct beginning or end. The cyclic process shows that there is no pattern to the process of science, and that one discovery can lead to a whole new process. Scientists can’t precisely predict exactly where their research might take them. The linear process shown in textbooks does not accurately portray the Scientific Method. It only shows one distinct path starting with purpose and ending with conclusion, and does not represent the complexity of a scientific experiment like DNA research. The Scientific Process is always looping back to steps as scientist collaborate, develop new questions and use…

Biology is the study of the phenomena of life, and biologists observe living systems and organisms, ask questions, and propose explanations for those observations. Science assumes that biological systems are understandable and can be explained by fundamental rules or laws. Scientific investigations share some common elements and procedures, which are referred to as the scientific method. Not all scientists follow these procedures in a strict fashion, but each of the elements is usually present. Science is a creative human endeavor that involves asking questions, making observations, developing explanatory hypotheses, and testing those hypotheses. Scientists closely scrutinize investigations in their field, and each scientist must present his or her work at scientific meetings or in professional publications, providing evidence from observations and experiments that supports the scientist’s explanations of biological phenomena.…

Through both experiments I observed the problem, questioned it, came up with one hypothesis, made a prediction, tired an experiment, came up with results and when I found my hypothesis was incorrect I came up with another and proceeded through the steps until my experiment was successful. Each time we do an experiment we get results. When our results aren’t working to our benefit we have to rethink. A new hypothesis must be made with the prediction of correct results. In both cases with the tomatoes and the car we learn from trial…
