How were threats to external validity addressed in this study, and what additional threats were identified (that were not addressed)? (Be sure to provide a rationale for your conclusions; pp. 250-253) Inadequate sampling is a threat to the external validity. The threat to the external validity was addressed by having male and female nurses were included in the study, which represent nursing population. The study can then be generalized to the nursing population.
The big five factor inventory were introduced and cross-culturally tested by rammstedt, which demonstrated acceptable discriminant, convergent and external validity, as well as test-retest reliability. The Persian translated version was previously used in two other studies in Iran, which showed acceptable validity and reliability, which provided existence of the five factors in the original version. The replicatable treatment of the study is another threat to the external validity, however it was addressed by the study. Study consisted of 31 males and 291 females, which cannot be generalized to the nursing population are less.
