School Shootings Research Paper
Have you ever wondered how school shootings, violence, happens in everyday school life without teachers and parents knowing how their child became involved? I support random backpack checks. I believe it would help keep our schools and kids safe. Backpacks are a perfect hiding spot for hiding drugs, weapons, knives and guns. Due to the different pockets and enclosed sections within the backpack. Students feel that school staff are not going to search their backpacks because of the 4th amendment that gives citizens the right to not be searched without probable cause. Therefore kids feel it’s a safe way to bring any type of weapons without being caught. School shootings should not be a worry for parents now a days. It should be a place

Why would a student decide to shoot their own classmates? Often when a topic like this is talked about usually a stereotypical reason is valid, at the time, to explain why a student would perform an act like a school shooting. Often people jump to a stereotypical conclusion because violence is frequently found in games and further media. Stereotyping is a subconscious act when a person places someone into their custom arrangement of how they act, speak, and look. (Ann) Can there be a another reason other than a stereotypical one? Can it be possible that violent media and a different style of music are not the true reason for a school shooting? Well yes, a school shooter can be much more complex mentally than you would think. The issue of policing schools has been widely debated across the country. As a high school student myself, I believe policing schools would be extremely beneficial and would enhance the safety of schools everywhere. The article “Does America Really Need More Cops in Schools?” by Susan Ferriss states, “The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun," National Rifle Association executive vice president Wayne LaPierre said after a young man shot his way into his former grammar school on December 14 in Newtown, Connecticut, and killed 20 first-graders and 6 educators.” The recent attacks on schools has raised many red flags concerning the safety of students. With this being noted, it is time school officials took action in effort of halting these vicious attacks.…

Some of these include doing more drug searches, locker checks, and bag checks. The fourth amendment in the United States Constitution states that search and seizure is prohibited unless there is a probable cause and requires a warrant for actions to be taken. (US Constitution) This keeps schools from searching the students personal property unless there is a legal reason to do so. Many schools provide drug searches where an authority figure, such as a police officer, will come into the school with drug dogs. These dogs are trained to recognize the scent of many illegal drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, and heroin. If one of these substances is scented by the dogs, an authority figure may search the area. In bigger cities where violence incidents are more common, schools have placed metal detectors at the main entrance of the building. Should backpacks be allowed in high school? Indeed, backpacks should be allowed in high school. High School is so post to help prepare us for the reality beyond the school walls. If students aren’t allowed to have backpacks then is it really helping us. Some schools say that we are hiding food and drinks in our bags; quite frankly, it’s going to happen either way. It is morally wrong for our country and state to make laws where it gives the option to officials to be able to look through your things. This breaches security in our nation because it is giving the government too much power over its citizens. In addition, it contradicts the fourth amendment, which states that citizens have a right to no unreasonable searches and seizures of personal belongings without a warrant. “Cell phone searches are an invasion of privacy… smartphones can contain a wide variety of information against a person,” two judges said who voted against these laws. This makes your actions less justifiable is they look through something of yours that may look suspicious, but has nothing to do with the situation. You may have something on you that has nothing to do with why you’re supposedly in trouble but can get you in more trouble if they are able to go through your things. Furthermore, puts way too much pressure on teachers and officials. According to the article Password Protected, “punishing students for what they do on the web is the responsibility of parents, not schools.”. It is unreasonable for teachers to have to make sure that all of their hundreds…
