School shooting in the United States
A school shooting is an incident in which gun violence is used on a school campus. Schools shooting are committed by students or even intruders. School shooting is topic of intense interest in the United States. The first school shooting ever recorded in the United States was the Pontiac’s rebellion school massacre. As time change, the progression of school shooting increases. On April 20, 1999 a massacre occurred at columbine high school in Littleton, Colorado, leaving 15 dead, including the two students responsible for the attack. It was by far one of the deadliest school shooting incidents in American history. On April 20th two teenage students from columbine high school followed through with a plan they had been constructing for over a year. Even more than a decade later, the event is still regarded as a great tragedy and has attracted national media coverage through the years. It has sparked discussion and debate associated with the boys possible motives: gun violence among youths, bullying, violent television, music, video games, the social environment of high schools, and teenagers’ use of anti-depressants and suicide. The biggest question is and still unanswered was what drove these two teenagers to do such a thing?
