“Schindler our protector, he was the only one who could protect us.” is a quote by Sol Urbach, a refugee of Oskar Schindler. Oskar Schindler was a Holocaust rescuer who saved over 1,200 prisoners during World War II. He rescued many of these prisoners by employing them in his factory as an excuse for their release. Oskar’s personality developed when he realized how awfully Jews were being treated during the war, so he decided to use his wealth to save the countless lives of others. Schindler used his cleverness, generosity, and social status to keep his Jews from the brutal conditions they might have had to face by Nazi party. Oskar may not have had a perfect early or adult life, but he is an outgoing hero of the Holocaust.…

According to Merriam Webster dictionary a hero is, "a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities or a person who is greatly admired." Oskar Schindler does not fit this definition at the beginning of the movie. Heroes commonly experience a classic call to action. Oskar Schindler's call to action was at the beginning of the war, however he did not truly take action until he began to form emotional attachments towards the workers he was hiring that he had hired to originally just benefit himself. Throughout the war Oskar Schindler slowly evolved into a hero, putting others before himself and in doing so saved many lives.…

    1) I believe the author; Steven Spielberg, intended to send a message concerning the human rights all humans have, and attempt to further enhance our understanding of the justice system, and its importance. With the amount of discriminations going on in the past few hundred years, I believe the message was to better inform the population of today about the truth and to help them respect the value of difference and life.…

I believe that Schindler became a hero over the course of his life. In the beginning of the movie my prospective is that he seemed like he didn't care either way. He was a business man trying to learn the loop holes and get money. By sending high ranking officers drinks, food, gift brackets, and other treats, he began to earn their respect and trust. Still early on in the film, he went horse back riding with is girlfriend and saw a little girl in a red coat trying to hide. Then he went to visit a camp, and notice the little girl's body about to be put in the fire. Schindler bought the Jews and had them work in good working conditions, to save their lives. Like, one women came to his office, but she was really a Jew. She begged him to buy her parents so they would not died, and he did. They started to call it the “ Safe Heaven.” So progressing into the movie, we see Schindler changing and finally at the end the saved 1,200 Jews. He cried before fleeing and thought he could save more Jews with his car and Nazi gold pin. Risking his business and his life he didn't think twice about saving the Jews. His name now and forevermore is "The Unforgettable Lifesaver of 1,200 Persecuted Jews."…

When Oskar Schindler was asked why he saved over 1,200 Jews, he says “If you saw a dog going to be crushed under a car, wouldn’t you help him”. He went from being a selfish, greedy player to a savior for the Jewish people. In the end, he did what most Germans wouldn’t do, and that’s saving a large portion of a race that was discriminated against during this time.…

Born April 18, 1908 to the Hans Schindler family of Zwittau, Austria-Hungary, Oskar Schindler and his sister, Elfriede were raised with a few more privileges compared to other boys and girls their ages. During this time, boys of a young age were expected to behave a certain way if they expected to gain employment after their school years were over. Oskar Schindler felt as if this rule did not apply to him, as he was sure to get a job in the family business, farm machinery production. Therefore, at an early age he began to do and act as he pleased. As he grew older, he began to follow in his father’s footsteps of drinking, partying, and enjoying the…

This is the opening scene. Schindler was pacing up and down the train station trying to find his accountant, Itzak Stern because he has just been told that Itzak is on ‘the list’. Shouting out orders, demanding to find Itzak Stern, he then orders guards to help him and after a while he finds his Jewish accountant. As viewers of the film and historians, we realise that Itzak Stern was on ‘the list’ and about to be sent to a death camp by train, as he was Jewish. The film then moved into a warehouse, guards and Jews are searching Jewish luggage to look for valuable belongings to sell to compensate for the wars expenses. What we appreciate from this scene is, Oskar Schindler is powerful, gets what he wants but also selfish as he stated a quote that portrayed that he only saved Stern because of the inconvenience it would have brought him. The reliability of this scene is good as in the memory of the camps we were shown a train with numerous Jews on being sent to a death camp. Also records and ‘artefacts’ have proved that Itzak Stern was a real person and was Schindlers accountant. I have researched numerous sources like http://www.history.co.uk/explore-history/ww2/appeasement.html and discovered that in WW2 they did sell jewish belongings, this contributes to this scenes reliability.…
