Sch 34 Duty of Care
A duty of care is a legal obligation imposed on an individual requiring that they adhere to a standard of reasonable care while performing any acts that could foreseeable harm others. A definition from Wikipedia. A duty of care is required in every work place and a greater duty or care is needed especially with younger children being as they are more vulnerable. A duty of care ensures support and care for individuals are provided at the required level within the law and also within the policies and procedures. It is something put in place to ensure staffs work with one another in professional and best manner possible, therefore giving service user an exceptional service needed.
Our setting works to the guidance and instruction of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework to ensure that we treat the children to the best of our abilities. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the framework that provides assurance to parents and carers that the early year’s providers which they choose will keep their children safe and help them to exceed their ability. The overall aim of the EYFS is to help young children achieve the five every child matters outcomes (staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making positive contribution, and achieving economic wellbeing). By improving quality and consistency in the early year’s sector we ensure a duty of care is in place by doing a number of things such as; * Within our setting we carry out daily checks to ensure that the environment inside and outside is safe before the morning session starts. * We have daily cleaning rotas to ensure the session is clean and we are stopping the spread of infection. * Ensuring that staffs have been trained in first Aid and that we have access to equipment. * To complete accident forms when an accident occurs. * Body forms to indicate if a child comes in from home and the parent/carer tells us of a mark on the child or a member of staff notices a mark on
