Scay Scalypse Chapter 1 Analysis
Scooby Apocalypse #1 is written by J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen from a concept by Giffen and Jim Lee. The artwork is provided by Howard Porter. Porter is known for his superb work on Batman Beyond Unlimited and Justice League 3000.

The Apocalypse is upon us... again! Thanks to an upgraded Scooby-Doo and gang, we have a better chance of surviving than we ever did before. Based on a concept dreamed up by DC Comics Co-Editor and artist Jim Lee, this new incarnation of the Mystery Incorporated group takes the Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters to a whole new level; one a bit more suited for teens and adults than the normal kiddie target audience of the animated movies and TV shows.

Those meddling kids—Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and their dog, Scooby-Doo—get more ghost-debunking than they bargained for when faced with a fundamental change in their world. The apocalypse has happened. Old rules about logic no longer apply. The creatures of the night are among us, and the crew of the Magical Mystery Machine has to fight to survive—because in the Scooby Apocalypse of the near-future, the horrors are real!

On this core Friday, Professor John Bultena from the Merritt Writing Program gave a lecture about comics. He doesn’t draw or write comics but he studied it for five years and been teaching about it. His goals for the lecture were to give an insight about what comics offer and the creation of behind it. There is more than enjoyment in comics and from visual information it can give a person deeper connection and understand through metaphor. Also in comics, there is always a question about how one panel goes to another, and the answer is always depending on the artist perception. John Bultena showed different styles of comic throughout the lecture but the first one he started out was with just a visual comic with no illustrations. This first one…

Scooby-Doo is unusually goofy, fearful and nervous. He usually crosses paths with the monster while trying everything he can to avoid it. A chase then ensues, a clue is found, a trap is set and the criminal is revealed, all the while Scooby is trying his best to stay away from the monster. Scooby’s nephew on the other hand is brave, confrontational and daring. Scrappy-Doo isn’t afraid to chase after the monster and wants to fight…

We all believed the stories about monsters and ghosts that people told us when we were little. But what if those stories turned out to be true? When Jacob was a little, his grandfather told him many stories about his life as a child living with the peculiar children and their headmistress Miss Peregrine; however, as he grew older, and after his grandfather passed away, Jacob began to search for the truth behind those rather ludicrous tales his grandfather once told him about. Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children is a book that teaches a valuable lesson that is true even for a modern teen: be careful whom you trust because people can often be misleading. Though Jacobs’ grandfather did not lie about his life a child, he left out a lot…

In a year of emotionally empty films, pointless overdone special effects, and mindless poorly written scripts, Remember the Titans is a shockingly intelligent, emotional movie. Noticeably absent is the excess overdone glitter and glam so prevalent in big release films, also missing is the Walt Disney tendency to tone down films and muddy their message to make their content more "user friendly." Yes, Remember the Titans is a PG movie, but it deals with rated R issues in a way that deeply involves the viewer.…

Movies are a great way to escape reality and slip into a “fantasy land” for a couple of hours. They allow us to relive our childhood and often bring back positive and negative memories. Movies are a way to relax and just sit back to enjoy what the film has to offer. All movies have a rating such as, G, PG, PG-13, and R. Typically, a six year old is not going to be viewing a film or show that is targeted for teenagers. Although that idea seems absurd, six year olds are indefinitely watching these programs.…

With so many titles to choose from, this can provide a very daunting task when it actually comes to decide what title and story line to read. Someone can be introduced to this form of popular culture in many different ways. These can range from being handed a comic from a family member or friend, to randomly picking up a comic on a store shelf, or by watching a movie about a certain character/team. In this seminar paper, I will explain how the comic book team the X-Men has been commercialized and advertised to society through the last five decades, how the subculture of the X-men can provide a communication link between people, and also how impactful this fictional team has been on the economy in popular culture today by using different theoretical…

The internet is a wonderful thing. The internet has affected the ways movies are by distributed because there are many sites that offer streaming directly to your home computer such as Netflix and iTunes. “Through its iTunes platform, Apple offers movies for sale and rent. IMDb, the popular Internet site that lists casts, release dates, and more for movies, also makes movies available for rental. Netflix, which allows customers to rent films by mail, thus avoiding trips to the video store, also makes films available for rental online, as does competitor Blockbuster.com, the Internet arm of the video–rental business” (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2011). The internet has changed the way that movies are produced because some movies are being created for online only purposes.” Full–length movies created solely for the Internet are more difficult to come by, but it seems inevitable that they, too, will follow” (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2011). I do believe that these changes have impacted the depth of the films. Most movies these days are all about sex. Most movies are not family oriented and I would not want young children watching them.…

The childhood dreams of the villain inspire his lifelong ambition to build the Navajo Nation Theme Park. In addition, the reader can simply empathize and accept the villain’s behaviors throughout the story because it is written from his own perspective. Thus, Geddes’ use of dark satire through the villain’s point of view, allows the audience to better understand and enjoy a rare narrative perspective of Scooby-Doo.…

Greenough and Kelman proposed Split Cycle Offset Optimization Technique (SCOOT). It is an online signal timing optimizer developed in 1973 by the Transport Research Laboratory in the United Kingdom. SCOOT has been implemented into real-world application since 1979.It is designed for general application within a computerized Urban Traffic Control System. SCOOT implements a method of coordination that adjusts the signal timings frequently and make small increments to match the latest traffic situation. Data from vehicle detectors are analyzed by an on-line computer which contains programs that calculate traffic flows. The amount of green for each approach (Split), the time between adjacent signals (Offset), and the time allowed for all…
