In conclusion, this evidence clearly demonstrates that a theme in Jason's Gold by Will Hobbs is that sometimes risks are necessary. The author demonstrates by using internal dialogue, dialogue, and imagery to show Jason’s risks, and how they payed off. This shows how everyone needs to take a few risks in their lives. Sometimes things are not always easy to get. This is seen when Jason is trying to find gold and find his family. This shows that sometimes you need to put things on the line to get to a better…
Amanda Boyden once uttered, “Never trust you will be saved by anyone”. Boyden’s terminology advocates that an individual should in no way expect to be defended by any person. As an individual they, have to be self-sufficient and have faith in themselves moderately than depending on others to ‘save’ them. A person has to look after themselves as no will be there to take care of them. Amanda Boyden terms are authentic. Everyone is an individual that has to care for themselves and people around you are not concerned about you. You cannot be a burden on others and expect them to be responsible for you. Evidence of Boyden’s words can be found in S. Peña Young’s short story’ “Cocoon” through the use of characterization, and Jerome Corsi’s article “Bill Cosby and Black Responsibility: The Problem of ‘Blaming the Victim’” through the use of point of view. Mutually the works of Young and Corsi use their works of literature to imply the message of being self-sufficiency and not a burden to others and do not anticipate others to be responsible for you.…

This piece of writing is an informative essay with the intention of influencing the reader to agree with the prompt “dealing with conflict can give rise to heroic qualities in an individual”. The essay is written in a formal language which is best suited for year 12 VCE students, teachers and educated citizens who are interested in the topic discussed; the heroic qualities presented by the “candy bomber” Gail Halverson, the outspoken and independent Nancy Wake and the two characters from the movie Paradise Road, who present great heroic qualities when placed in a dreadful conflict of world war two.…

I was nourished with love from my umbilical cord in my mother’s warm womb, spoon fed when I was able to feed and hand held when I could walk; I was akin to my parents from my conception, as I was their child. But, soon I was riding a bicycle by myself while my father stood and watch, I was placed on the school bus by myself while my mother waved me goodbye, in less than a year, my parents together will send me off to school by myself. From a tender age, still being a mere child, my parents have engraved the nature of independence in me, a key quality of maturity. An essential proponent of the transition to adulthood is obtaining true independence.…
Initially, Moira and Barry have a seemingly flawless family relationship despite his belief that she is delicate. His influence over her is what seems expected of a father and his child; they are happy to spend time together, but he is still her protector. Contentedly, Barry and Moira partake in a variety of activities together such as “going to foreign films, visiting Seattle, [and] beachcombing.” It is explained that “[a]t one time, they had played chess nearly every day.” These activities demonstrate a healthy father-daughter relationship in which the two are pleased to spend time with one another. In fact, their relationship seems to be so close that Moira divulges secrets to her father through her “signal” of “[lifting] her index finger and [rubbing] the side of her nose” to let him know that “she [is] going to impart a confidence or confess a wrongdoing” such as…
Out of all types of conflict, those that exist between a person and himself can prove to be the toughest to overcome. This is because one can only rely on himself to solve the problem. In “The Life You Save May Be Your Own” by Flannery O’Connor, the major conflicts resides within Mr. Shiftlet. This man vs. self conflict involves the struggle in which Mr. Shiftlet tries to overcome his evil ways, but continues to fail in the shadows of his own selfishness. He attempts to undertake good deeds to help others, such as the Craters with their housework and the wandering boy with advice, but continues to fall short even by the end of the story. Mr. Shiftlet’s affirmation that, “The world is almost rotten.” proves that he will forever struggle to break his habitual, evil ways.…
Sometimes the biggest acts of courage happen in the smallest incidents. Growing up in the upper-class, being a model, and then eloping during the Great Depression is not all it is said to be. Dealing with abuse and divorce, poetry was the best kind of therapy for Anne Sexton. She did attend therapy sessions, and they were recorded so that they could be played back as inspiration for her poems. Sexton was hospitalized, and attempted suicide in her life, so her idea of courage might be different than what others may see it. A baby’s first step, men fighting in war, dealing with abuse, and reaching old age are significant signs of courage. As she expresses her view on the subject, it is made clear that people do not need to be a “superhero” to be courageous.…
