“Everyone knows that by bringing up his dead wife he is more blind”(Foer). As if the loneliness makes him not want to see the pain that he had ,“He can’t seem to find what is being illuminated in his life,Grandfather mainly does nothing but lament his actions” (Foer). He spends all his time after the trip crying and crying and in the end, he kills himself, telling Jonathan in his final letter that his suicide is not because he can not deal with the pain but is fulfilled with happiness, he "cannot endure"(Foer), but because he is "complete with happiness"(Foer), and ready to "open the door into darkness" (Foer). Perhaps after death, everything will be illuminated for…

Although money can buy our necessary needs such as a bed, computers, books, food, and acquaintances, it can't buy respect, common sense, a purpose in life, a close-knit family and a strong work ethic. In my opinion, money can buy the illusion of happiness, but the true happiness has no money value. Also, money can also ruin your social relationship between your friends and family. From the story "The Scholarship Jacket", it told a story of a girl, named Marta, who grew up her with her father, who was a farm laborer, but he didn't make enough money to feed eight of his children. So she moved to live with her grandparents But despite having no money, she had a loving family, and it didn't stop her from working hard to achieve her goals, to have…

Money can buy a lot of things but it cannot buy good health, respect, love, inner peace etc as these only come from good principles. A person can have million in his bank account but still feel poor because he is not content with his life, more money gives him only minimal satisfaction. Security come from within from knowing that what you have is enough for you to be happy, it comes from believing in your self. All of us tend to think that happiness comes from outside i.e. through money. A short story that supports this notion is "A Christmas Memory' by Truman Capote it is the story of a child who does not get anything for Christmas except handed down and worn out except for a kite but he is still satisfied and goes out to fly it. In another…

The belief that money lead to ultimate happiness was circulated among mankind and perceived as the essence of life, this can be seen in the quote: “Money makes the world go round”. Upon reading this quote , one begins to think that money is the everlasting physical material that brings happiness. However, Money is only tangible and can disappear overnight. William Durant, founder of GM and Chevrolet, said “Money is only leaned to a man. He comes into the world with nothing and leaves with nothing”. This indicates how one spends this tangible curse to pursue the thought of happiness.…

“It seems only natural that happiness should flow from having more money. Even if they don’t admit it, people still behave as though it were true. More money means you can have what you want and do what you want.” (Dean 2008). Wealth and possessions do not equal happiness because no matter how much money and gems you have you can not buy feelings, but only comfort, also if you are working hard for more money you are experiencing more stress and negative emotions.…

That is the thought of most of the populace. Many people include the word money when they were asked to pick five things considered important to their lives. In a short article, “Money, Markets and Madness,” Vanessa Baird addresses “…what money means to us as human beings: the extraordinarily dominant role it plays in our societies, in our psyches, and in determining our very survival” (2). People use it every day to trade goods, such as buying clothes, food, and shelter. In this way, money is important to humans because it is used to exchange goods based on their needs. However, because of greed, some people turn it into something more important than their lives. They try to get as much money as they can even when they have to go out and do the bad things. They let money control their brains. They feel satisfied when they have more money than their peers; it is a fake happiness in a competition with no…

Although there will always be those who say money cannot buy happiness, money can lead to personal satisfaction, which in the end leads to happiness. Happiness can be created through the things that one owns, also by what they have compared to others around them. As said in the article, “The Happiness of Pursuit,” one helps obtain happiness because “money can boost happiness if it allows people to obtain more of the things they need and desire” (qtd. in Kluger). This is proven through the fact that when people get what they want, or get more of the things they enjoy, then they become happy, and money can be used to get those things. It can also be argued that based on the amount of money one makes, their happiness can either be increased or decreased. In an article from the Time Magazine, according to Belinda Luscombe, “the more [people make], the more they felt their life was going well.” If it is true that the more money people make, and the better they feel pertaining to how their life is going, then they will definitely be happier depending on their monetary wealth. With the constant arguing back and forth of people as to whether money makes people happy, sad, or has no affect, it is apparent that money does affect people’s lives. Money can both help people get what they want, also help make their lives feel as if they are going well, which are both…
