Competency 325.1.2: Leadership Approaches and Theories - The graduate uses contemporary approaches and theories of leadership to perform a personal leadership skills analysis and to develop a leadership philosophy.


In order to truly be an effective leader, you must understand your own leadership styles and tendencies. This will not only help you develop your leadership skills but also help you interact more effectively with your employees. The purpose of this task is for you to identify and evaluate your own leadership style and determine how that may help or hinder your efforts as a member of your team.

A.  Create a personal leadership skills analysis of your leadership in which you do the following: 1.  Identify your leadership style, as discussed by the reading in the course of study. a.  Evaluate two strengths of your leadership style.

b.  Evaluate two weaknesses of your leadership style.
2.  Compare your leadership style to two other leadership styles.

Note: Provide insights about how the two other leadership styles are similar to and different than your own.

3.  Discuss how understanding the different leadership styles helps you to be a more effective leader. 4.  Discuss at least two problems you could encounter in the workplace due to differences in leadership styles. a.  Explain two distinct ways to overcome each problem.

5.  Discuss three potential advantages that may be created between the leadership styles. a.  Explain how you can capitalize on these advantages to increase productivity.

B.  When you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format.
