Sandwich Blitz Unit 4
Sandwich Blitz, Inc. Unit 4 Assignment
Melissa Arneson
Introduction to Management
Kaplan University

1. How would creating a new position between the CEO and the location managers help the business to grow? Delegating work to correct people offers many advantages. By creating a new position between the CEO and the location managers it would allow Dalman to devote his time to the planning of growing his business. It would also allow the location managers to concentrate on their tasks at hand and yet still have a higher management to go to for questions or help if need be. This would help everyone to feel a little less stressed and more efficient work will be able to be completed. 2. Is promoting an existing manager the best option to fill this position? If not, what is an alternative source to fill the position? I believe that promoting a manager from within the company would be a great way to fill the position. If the position is filled from within that manager will already know the ins and outs of the company, the problems that are at hand and the way things are run and handled. If Dalman and Lei are able to train the person that knows how to run the front lines with the way that they are able to handle the upper level they would be able to handle anything that is thrown at them whether it be from the operational level or the upper level. 3. Who within the company should make these decisions? Dalman and Lei are both owners of the company so I think that the decisions should be decided by both. Or should they choose they could delegate the different sections of the company to each of them and then the decisions could be split between the two. 4. List the levels of authority (management) that Sandwich Blitz, Inc. would have if the new position is created. CEO Middle Managers Location Managers Line

For my Unit 10 : Discussion posting, I have chosen to use the country "Mexico". A business group from this country has offered to purchase a franchise of Sandwich Blitz. Although both Dalman and Lei are overly excited about this idea, they must both learn about "Mexico's" cultural norms, business and meeting practices, and its values. As I understand that a meeting has been arranged for Dalman, Lei, and three representatives from the business group, to discuss the idea of "Mexico" purchasing a franchise of Sandwich Blitz. With this being a very important meeting, and it involving networking with individuals who will influence the outcome of this transit to expand the business of Sandwich Blitz, Dalman and Lei should both begin reading, reviewing, and learning…

I believe that Joanna should recommend that Sam Wilson reorganize and restructure the department as a whole. They should assign roles to each individual depending on their job description, to avoid the problem of having some people doing more work than others. Also, the top management has to involve the department in decision making and engaging them in giving ideas and enhancing their services. For example, setting weekly or quarterly goals and trying to meet them. This step also allows the organization to evaluate themselves and knowing how they’re doing. The more the workers get involved in the strategic part of planning, the more they feel obliged to meet those goals and the more they feel loyal to the organization.…

To solve these problems, we come up with two solutions, one is to decentralize the power, the other one is to establish integrated model. If we treat Robin as CEO, regard his three lieutenants as top management level, and see other people as employees, we can find that there is lack of middle management level in this organization. Under this circumstance, to decentralize the power means to build several functional departments and give each department right as well as responsibility of managing the organization. So the three top managers who are under supervision of CEO only needs to manage leaders of different departments and each leader will supervise their own departments; at the same time, when making a decision, the leaders of departments need to collect employees’ advices and the three top managers need to come to two or three conclusions before CEO makes the final decision. And to establish integrated model means to get different departments we have talked above into connection, to give every department the right to monitor and to cooperate with each other. For…
