Samsung Electronics Co. LTD. is a South Korean company based out of Suwon, South Korea. Samsung Electronics Co. LTD. is also a multinational company traded here in the U.S.A on NASDAQ daily. Although Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. Is one of the many different subsidiaries and affiliated business, in which is united under the Samsung brand it is the flagship subsidiary of the Samsung’s Group. It amounts to 70 percent of the group’s revenue according to 2012 statistics and also has been the world’s largest information technology company by revenues since 2009. Employing over three hundred and seventy people in assembly plants and sales networks in over 80 different countries has been Samsung Electronics Co. LTD. Kwon Oh-Hyun has been CEO of the company since 2012. With such electronic components such as lithium-ion batteries, semiconductors, chips, flash memory, and hard drive devices for such companies as Apple, Sony, HTC, and Nokia Samsung has long been a manufacture of these items for these companies and many more. Consumer electronics has been a recently acquired venture for Samsung Electronics Co. LTD. With the popular release of its Samsung Galaxy line of devices Samsung is now the world’s largest manufacturer of mobile phones and smartphones. Also Samsung is a major competitor in the tablet computers, particularly its Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab collection. Being generally regarded as pioneering the phablet market through its Samsung Galaxy Note family of devices is also Samsung Electronics Co. LTD. Samsung has been the world's largest manufacturer of LCD panels since 2002, the world's largest television manufacturer since 2006, and world's largest manufacturer of mobile phones since 2011.     Samsung is able to achieve and maintain its low cost position due to various factors. Samsung has always emphasized on process and production efficiency. The company places all its fab lines and R&D facility at a single site, so that engineers from various departments can come together to resolve any process or design issues as soon as possible. Benefiting from the collocation, Samsung achieved an average of 12% construction costs savings. Also, as seen in Exhibit 7a, Samsung is able to keep its fully loaded costs below that of competitors. The lower cost is mainly attributed to lower raw materials cost, perhaps due to better relationships with suppliers. Moreover, Samsung, in its design and production of DRAMs, has always sought to design them around a core design.
