THE TORCH PUBLICATIONS
CONSTITUTION

PREAMBLE

We, the staff of the Torch Publications, imploring the aid of Divine Providence, in order to adhere to the ideals of an autonomous, pro-student and pro-people student publication responsive to the needs of the academe and the community shall uphold the standards and ethics of journalism, function as a catalyst to tap the holistic development of the students by exposing them to the objective social realities and to the nationalist perspective of issues, defend and assert the students and the people’s right and welfare, and contribute to the development of responsible and committed student leaders and journalists, do hereby ordain and promulgate this Constitution.

ARTICLE I
NAME, SEAL, COLOR, SCOPE, DOMICILE

Section 1. NAME. The official student publication of the Philippine Normal University-Manila shall be known as The Torch Publications or The Torch.

Section 2. SEAL. The official seal of The Torch shall be enclosed in a circle containing the following in it: half pen and half torch emblem with an inkbottle and olive leaves below it; rays of light on the right side of the half pen, half Torch emblem and a scroll at its side with the name The Torch Publications written on it. The feather is the symbol for wisdom, the rays for enlightenment and the pen, paper and ink solely stands for the writer. The merging of pen and the Torch is for conviction, passion and eagerness of the student leaders to serve as Torchbearers. The circle surrounding the symbols stands for homogenous stand/view point and method of publication.

Section 3. COLOR. The official color of the Torch shall be red, white and black. Red stands for unwavering commitment and determination of the publication to serve the studentry; white stands for the transparency of the publication and black for firmness of the publication in dealing with the issues confronting the students.

Section 4. SCOPE. The Torch Publications is a student
