This article was listed on the Buzzle.com website and documented Ray Kroc’s life and early years of his career. It described his personal health challenges and financial decisions. The article was helpful to my research because it provided personal information about Ray Kroc.

This is an autobiography written by Ray Kroc. It is a first-hand account of Mr. Kroc’s life and his choices that made him successful. This book is helpful to understand firsthand information about how and why Ray Kroc made decisions.

McDonald’s corporate website that contains information about products, nutrition, history, and the timeline of major business achievements. This site is very useful in learning about the history of the company and how it was started and to learn about the marketing ideas that have been used.

“Rarely in U.S. history has a brand drawn as much debate over its imprint on marketing as McDonald’s.” The article analyzed the marketing strategies of Ray Kroc and McDonald’s in becoming a leader in marketing to children and creating well-known brands and slogans known around the world. This article was very helpful in understanding how McDonald’s changed the way advertising was done.

    One such person who invested considerable initiative and risk is Ray Kroc, king of the famous franchise chain, McDonald’s. Ray Kroc started as a salesman for the Lily-Tulip Cup Co. selling paper cups when he was 37 years old. He met Earl Prince, inventor of the first five-spindle milkshake mixing-machine called a Multimixer. Ray purchased the marketing rights for the Multimixer and sold it all across the country. When he came upon the first hamburger stand owned and operated by the McDonald brothers, Kroc was so impressed by the simplicity and originality of this new restaurant (a storefront with no seats which offered only burgers, fries, drinks and milkshakes) that he purchased the McDonald’s method from the brothers - and the rest is history. McDonald’s can be seen in many television sitcoms and movies as far back as 1973, as well as a huge sponsor for the Olympics that increase its hold on the society. Through the catchy commercials that boast new products declaring individualism, Americans embrace the individualistic choices and feed into the hype. Also, being a household name that even children can recognize the golden arches and Ronald McDonald, and crave it while you drive by. Their expensive marketing and advertising campaigns have been highly effective, contributing to McDonald 's famous burgers and fries being found in all four corners of the globe.
