In this policy there are two opinions. On the supporting side of this policy there are many concerns first, parenting. According to the National organization of marriage it is said that children raised by same-sex parents are child abusers and that having same-sex parents deprives children of their inalienable rights. This means being a child of same sex marriage stops them from rights other children raised from heterosexual parents have. Now on a religious note cardinal Timothy Dolan president of Catholic bishops in San Francisco says that “regardless the court’s decision, the church remains committed to strengthening traditional marriage between a man and a women, which for thousands of years have proven to be the best environmental for nurturing children.” This leads to social problems. “By supporting Same-sex marriage you are making me go against my religious beliefs” says Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints continuing with “marriage is a religious institution and we should follow tradition.”
On the other hand the opposing party disapproves of this policy. Ground arguments from the supporting side. Parenting a child being homosexual has caused a stir up but scientific research has proven children with homosexual parents have the same outcome with children that have heterosexual parents. It’s been proven that children raised by homosexual all actually more social. While religion is a huge factor for those who are against gay marriage, those who support it argue that even through the policy waves it up to each to agree or disagree on passing the law to legalize Same-sex marriage. Getting married doesn’t give the same rights as a heterosexual couple. You aren’t given financial and social rights. Marriage is no longer biblical it’s social and economic says the New Mexico party. Regardless of getting marriage the opposing party’s big principal is individual rights. A lot of the supporting side says this policy is a “slippery slope” but the opposing says every human has their rights and this policy is alienating us from our rights.
So leaving the option for legalizing same-sex marriage up to each state has created many concerns and disagreements between these two parties.
