Title: It’s Showtime!
Format: variety game show
Theme: musical, party
Concept: comedy
From paper of Jeanyn Santiano

A. Concept
She mentioned alot. She tells about the comedy genre of the program so it must be funny and humorous. She talked about the perspective we should look on when the jokes throw, she also mentioned about the issue between Vice Ganda’s jokes about Jessica Soho. And lastly the studio, she said it is small and enough to establish friendly relationship between studio audience and the hosts.
For me the program Showtime is less popular than Eat Bulaga (they were competition). They are alot of reasons; maybe EB is older than Showtime so it is more popular or may maybe the approach. Showtime is purely entertainment they give money but for fun not for the sake of public service unlike EB, there is what they called “Juan for all, All for Juan,” a public service but in entertainment way. My point is they are targeting two different audience or market.

B. Setting
One thing I like about Showtime, they shoot a specific, like bumper or what, a short opening before the host introduce. They shoot outside, on roads, etc. but just the same, all throughout the program is inside the studio. This is based on what I saw different from Jeanyn’s perspective.

C. Props & Costumes
They provide a particular costume. And I think the uses of sound effects are very effective. Same as Jeanyn’s opinion.

D. Lighting
They have very good lighting set-up. Jeanyn didn’t talk about this.

E. Make-up
What I don’t like is the hair of Vice Ganda, it always catches attention. . Jeanyn didn’t talk about this.

When I first saw the play I payed no attention to the costumes but enjoy the overall play, which mean that costume designers did a good job. According to professor Landis, she says that costumes should not be the main focus but improve the overall environment of the play. Once I look back to picture of the play, I start noticing costumes. I find it beautiful how all the characters wore emerald, lively clothing to add to the wonder of Emerald City. I also notice that Elphaba has the famous wiked witch hat but the costume designer made modification that make it appear like the orignial hat, but it looks more suiting to a beautiful younge women. This production used a lot of change of set design as well as the use of expensive effects. For instant, during the scene were there is flying monkeys, the audience not only see a million monkeys appearing as if they are going to take flight but the huge dragon on top of the stage comes alive. During this scene the light technicitan uses red lights on the stage and the background is Elsabub castle. The use of red lights, loud sounds, and the…

Tina Fey has been known for her hilarity and comedic genius in the entertainment business. Most famous for her time as a writer on Saturday Night Live and her award winning show 30 Rock, she has attributed to the entertainment with comedy that not many can match. To see her life on television and now in a dagger sharp, witty book, the readers can see the history that made her the successful comedian that she is. Bossypants goes throughout Fey’s awkward childhood to her time as Sarah Palin on SNL. Throughout the book we get a clear picture of what Fey’s mind could possibly look like, although we will really never know. Her freedom to be herself, the “bossy pants”, (which she considers herself to be) makes for an interesting story, or rather, an interesting life.…

Friends and family are two things vital to keeping a person sane. The loss of your friends and family, can cause a person to go insane - especially when those few people are the only ones you hold dear to your heart. In 1985 Sudan, a civil war broke out, and millions died from starvation and war. Many others fled to inhospitable refugee camps in Ethiopia, Kenya and neighboring countries. Those who fled became known as the ‘Lost Boys of Sudan’. Salva Mawien Dut Ariik was one of those boys who were fortunate enough to survive the war, and escape to a place like America. However, Salva had his share of problems along the way as well. He faced starvation and pain, misery and death, even though no pain was worse than the pain of the loss that Salva…

Parks is, as I spent more time talking to her, witty. She creates an an atmosphere where it is easy to be comfortable around her. Creating a joke in my case is hard to do, but she allows me to find my sense of humor. She is not a know-it-all. She shows her intelligence by showing her comedy side. Thus Ms. Parks reveals a idea, that life can be much simpler when having a sense of humor.…

An audience can gather many details and these tools can communicate subtle details of a character’s personality, all of which can connect to the theme of the story telling. The Wizard of Oz could have probably been done without the costumes, but the effectiveness of implications towards it themes and its dramatic effect would be lost. “A character's relationship to the story's themes, the plot developments, and the other characters can be suggested, emphasized, and intensified for the audience by the use of certain costumes, makeup” (Goodykoontz & & Jacobs, 2014). Both costume designers and makeup artists work closely with the film’s production designer, director, cinematographer, and actors, to create a total look that conveys the film’s themes, setting, and…

Filming in a studio is usually made so that it is in easy reach for all crew to travel to. Studios are usually hired out for the duration of filming or in television cases on a regular basis once a week. Television studios provide space for audiences to come and watch he shows. Having a live audience gives feeling to a show and you can receive feedback after shooting has taken place. Studios give the crew complete control over what is happening on from weather conditions to lighting and sound. Although filming in a studio it is hard to create the natural light you would get from filming on location. You can almost achieve sound and acoustic perfection working in a studio as you can block any background on unexpected noise you may have when working on a location. A studio also gives you the gift of time, as filming can be a long process, you can film, in a studio 24 hours a day and still have the same setting, this saves time and money. As if you were working on location on a daytime shot you could not film this once the sun started to set. Studios are usually in easy reach of towns and cities, this means that if something is needed last minute such as a prop that has been forgotten or added at the last minute, you can easily access items you could not if you were filming on a location…
