Saint Teresa of Calcutta was a nun in a covenant in Ireland namely Sisters of Loreto. She started teaching in a school and while she was teaching, she felt the calling of God to serve the poorest of the poor. However, one of the threats that prevented her from following God’s plan is the permission she had to received from Rome, so she could work in the streets of Calcutta. After nearly two years of waiting, she finally received her permission and proceeded with God’s plan. When she arrived at her destination, she was not prepared for anything except God’s mission for her. She would often beg for funds and have minimal amounts of income and food. Nonetheless, she aided the outcasts/neglected people in the streets by nursing them when they are sick, and old and frail. After a while, her students were inspired of her works and so they helped her in fulfilling her mission. When she first opened her congregation (Missionaries of Charity), many people had criticised her works because of the lack of proper medical attention. This involved encounterments of difficulties she had to face daily to serve her fellow spiritual siblings. She followed the calling of God through sincere concern for others and desire to care for others, and did not let any threats prevent her from following God’s appointed mission to her. She was brave enough to face the challenges to show to the Lord her perpetual love for Him and her generosity for the people she served. Thus, she inspired other people by choosing to follow God and endure the obstacles that hinder her. Likewise, her action of service to the neglected people aspires people to do the same.
