SMART Board Reflection
As a teacher candidate, when reflecting back on the SMART board activity I felt there were many strengthens to it. The activities on the SMART board were a review for the students on what they learned previously, which required students to display their knowledge in multiple ways. The activities met all of the requirements of the project, and utilized all the SMART board had to offer when designing to creative effective activities for the students’ review of the material taught to them. The teacher candidate comes up with creative ways to engage the students in the review, such illustrations. It is important to include a lot of illustration in the activities, especially in kindergarten who highly depend on illustration to understand certain …show more content…
Other weakness about the SMART board activity was that for an instructional component, it would have been extremely beneficial for the students have them directions read to them, such as if I could voice over myself saying the directions. I did provide detail instructions and provide examples of what to do on the activity, but for a struggling readers this would not be as beneficial. When designing the review activities on the SMART board, as teacher candidate I felt it get repetitive at times, but the review was design to ensure the students had full comprehension of the material taught to them. Collaboration could have also been prevalent in the activities, majority of the activity require the students to work individual. However, despite some of the weakness in the SMART board activity, as teacher candidate, I believe the SMART board was effective, and formatively assessed the students’ knowledge in an effective way that promoted higher level learning. The review was also student driven with is an important component to students’

When making the lesson plans needing to meet the curriculum goals, we must make sure that every child is being reached. A simple felt story board after reading a story can help them understand it better, have the children take turns, ask open-ended questions, have them draw a picture. These simple steps will help each individual understand the story.…

Smart board. A smart board is an interactive whiteboard, which enhances your lessons by creating visual stimulation to the students. This has developed over the years from becoming a simple whiteboard to an outstanding piece of equipment which saves time and delivers amazing lessons all at the touch of a button. The Smart board has a multiple number of uses, which would help inclusive practice, but because of its wide variety you should take care not to introduce to many at once to over stimulate the student. I understand myself as an instructor I would always try to present the best lesson available but I know that this can be spoilt…

To advance physical and intellectual competence I provide various amounts of equipment and activities that help promote the physical development of children I do this by offering activities that will allow children to use their small muscles and large muscles. Children need these types of activities so they can become familiar about how to use their muscles and to develop body strength. Activities such as jumping, running, and balancing themselves will help them gain strength in lower parts of their bodies. These activities allow them to work with their gross motor skills. Activities such as painting, puzzles, writing, coloring allows them to use their fine motor skills. I try to encourage children to use their cognitive skills. I do this by having the children think about how to solve problems rather than simply asking question and receiving and answer. For example children asked “What happens if we bring a grasshopper into the classroom?” The children brought a grasshopper into classroom to see if it would hop around, make noise, move, or stay still. Then the children and I discussed why it moved or didn’t move. I keep activities interesting so that the children will want to learn and use their minds. In the classroom cognitive skills are used on a daily basis. I encourage children to be creative. To me children should have access to materials such as markers, crayons, paint, and pencils, and paper. By having these materials available will allow them to explore and be creative. I play music also sometimes play music in different languages. By playing the music it encourages them to dance and that is a way for children to use their gross motor…

When I submitted my paper to Smartthinking for review I was certain there would be a few corrections presented and I would simply apply those minor tweaks to my work and I would move on to the next week a little more prepared than I was at the beginning of Unit 1. I was amazed at some of the suggestions. I am also amazed at how those suggestions made my paper a much better piece of writing.…

The technologies that are available to K-12 teachers that can be utilized in the classroom are very plentiful. The major issues are getting the technology to the classroom. With budget cuts and school district cut backs the future classrooms will have obstacles to overcome. However, the electronic whiteboards are showing up in many classrooms around the country. (2007 ISTE). The electronic whiteboards are interactive and they are connected to a computer that is connected to a projector that will display a screen on a board. The ability to access web sites is possible, teaching interactive lessons as well as games that have lessons created for the whiteboard device. The tradition whiteboard is still available with this device and the capability to save work. Isn’t that a wonderful feature now the teacher does not have to rewrite the day before material again just bring it up. MP3 players…

Overall, a lot has changed since for me since the first SIM paper. I remember being so scared and daunted by how you described the assignments. But as we progressed further through the course, it became easier. But while it was easier, I still faced a lot of challenges as the semester progressed. I started to get overwhelmed with other classes, which began to take a toll on me. I started to fall behind in tasks and was not able to turn in big assignments on time. I felt more capable of doing a SIM paper at the end of the semester, but it was a lot more stressful. The MGR assignments were ones that forced me outside of my comfort zone and helped me grow a deeper sense of humility. They forced to think more in-depth on issues and made me really…

I believe that young children learn best through exploration and hands on experience. They should be encouraged to discuss and socialize with other children. Children should be interested in the learning topic, and teacher’s need to plan their activities accordingly. I believe that the activity should involve more than three domains; this way the learning will benefit as well as the child will learn to multitask. I believe that all of the learning should be child-initiated and teacher supported. Children need to also use some open-ended material which will develop their imagination. Children learn each minute that they are awake, so teachers just need to provide a clean, safe environment with a lot of useful…

Reflection allows an individual to identify the reasons or purpose of understanding the outcome of a particular situation in depth in term of emotions on thought and feeling on the topic area. In addition, Reflection is something that we do implicitly as part of being human, underpinning our identities through a process of negotiation between our sense of self and our experiences of others (Demetriou, 2000, p.210). Therefore, I have implemented this quote in my professional and personal goals I wanted and have achieved thought-out the process of the module. I have made continues effort in building my confidence in situations that I have felt uncomfortable in.…

The students were not active within 45 seconds. The instant activity that we chose needed too much explanation for this age group, resulting in the students not actually starting the activity quick enough. Unfortunely, this activity needed a lot of instructions for 2nd graders to be able to play the activity adequately. For example, the students needed to be able to trade their shark cards, then read the card when the music stopped, so we had to explain to the students that they were going to start out with shark cards, then they were going to trade the shark cards when the music started, and then the music stops and they needed to freeze and then they needed to open up their shark and see what activity they needed to do when the music wasn't going. It was just too much information for second graders. This activity may have gone over better with older students. To correct this in the future, I would not do this with this young of an age group, at least not as an instant activity.…

To advance physical and intellectual competence I provide numerous activities to enhance these qualities in the children that I teach. In the area of physical, my goal is to make sure the students are given many possibilities to participate in large motor activities daily. I make this fun by joining them while they are playing. I encourage them to do activities that encourage running and jumping. We play tag, hide and seek, and their favorite game “Mr. Fox what time is it”. When the weather does not permit us to go outside we have free play inside the gymnasium. We are able to use tricycles, play basketball, and build using pipes and blocks. We also do a unit on how to keep our bodies healthy. This is where we get the parents involved so they can learn what they can do at home with their children. We send home a chart that gives them opportunities to be physically active and they turn this chart in at the end of the unit. Then as a class we discuss what we did with our families. To promote intellectual activities I provide numerous materials that they can use and I rotate them occasionally so they are not bored with it. For example, in our art center the children are exposed to many different types of materials. They have various types of paper and paints as well as recycled material that they can use to sculpt their own art. Our class is also exposed to music of many different cultures. We play music throughout the day and one day a week we have a music class outside of our classroom. As a preschool teacher I keep up with what is new and promote these findings during our learning experiences. I provide many avenues for children to find who they are and respect who others are.…
