Running-Personal Narrative
It’s cold, damp and misty. The fog covers my view of everything in front of me. I can only hear the sounds of both the shouting of the men following me and the footsteps of my acquaintance ahead of me. The urge to keep running surges through my veins. My mind is clouded due to the adrenaline. Adrenaline, what an interesting thing. It seems to take over your body. Almost as if there’s another hand on the steering wheel controlling my body. I begin to slow down in exhaustion. There is a shooting pain in my legs and the adrenaline can only help so much. My acquaintance whose name is Robert, I’ve known for a long time. All I know is that he came with me when I escaped the horrors of the place known as Fairfield. I don’t remember my time in there …show more content…
I keep running head down until I feel a surge coming from the right side of my body as I get thrown to the ground and into the bushes to the side of where I was running. I kick and scream as the hand of the person clamped on my mouth and he held down my legs. I open my eyes and see Robert ontop of me as he slowly takes his hands off his my mouth and puts his finger to his lips, signaling me to be quiet. He slowly gets off as not to make a sound. We watched the outside of the bush. Adrenaline filled my body but this time it wasn’t helping me. It was being bottled up inside as my fear built. Ready to explode. I knew I had to calm myself down or I would get us both caught. I thought of my family before everything. I thought really hard this time. I remember going to the park with my youngest. I’d sit on the bench reading the paper while he played on the play structure. I remember then hearing someone say something to me and then I got really scared but I can’t remember what they said or who it was. SNAP! One of the branches broke as I snapped back into reality. The men were close. Then I saw one creep up from the brush with a shotgun in his hands. He was tall but lean and seemed to have almost a fear in his

I step aboard the school bus glancing at my sleeping teammates as I make my way down the aisle. The green illumination of my watch is the only thing lighting the way to my seat. My headphones slip from my ears as I kick a freshman out of my spot. “Front of the bus,” I whisper, careful not to wake the motionless sleeping bodies around me. I set my bag down and readjust my earbuds, but my eyes wander to the time displayed on my phone’s screen. 4:32 A.M. I love being a cross country runner, I think to myself sarcastically. As the bus breaks the morning silence and roars alive, I adjust my bag as a pillow and settle in for the ride.…

To express his believe about stretching one’s limit, the great Guy Finley had once stated, “The limit of your present understanding is not the limit of your possibilities.” Inspired by his quote, I, Giang Pham, believe that I would be a valuable member of McGarvin’s Academic Pentathlon team. Based on my personal knowledge of Pentathlon, I have first-handedly experience the soul of a Pentathlete through various study sessions at Ethan Allen. Because of this, I have developed a deep insight of the components necessary to be a true Pentathlete. In addition to having first-hand experience, I also have extremely high expectations for both myself and other students, for it is essential in my academic growth. With this, one like myself could ultimately…

My high school cross country coach has been a very influential person to me. He has mentored me and encouraged me through four years of cross country. To always try my best and be determined to achieve my goals. In one year I dropped my 5k time from a 19:08 to a 17:58. A result of my dedication. It was an extremely hot, sunny day in late April, and it was the last track meet of the season. everyone wanted to do their best. In past track meets, I had not mastered the full sprinting form, but as the season progressed, I became a much better runner. I thought that this was my opportunity to show everyone how much I had improved. Even though my shin splints made it feel like my legs would explode, I was determined to ignore all the pain and just keep running. Each sprinter on the field was sweating and exhausted and the required layer of clothes over our track uniform was not helping.…

I shuffled across the field watching the running back take the ball running to the right side. I was the only one there to make the tackle Tyler and Kai both got blocked by Lineman and Landon got blocked by a receiver. I ran across the field, we both met at the pylon I only had to hit him out of bounds so I dove……. And I missed. As I fell to the ground my eyes were closed. I opened my eyes and I felt a sharp pain in my right elbow. It felt like my arm had split into 2. I looked over and I saw Landon.I said “ Landon go get the coaches I think I broke my arm.” I thought I had a broken arm. So he looked over at my arm and said “ Oh my gosh.” He started screaming for the coaches saying “Koen hurt his arm! It was the first day of summer workouts and we had just got done stretching, we were getting ready to go with our individual coaches. When we were trying to work on inside run game and we needed a full back. I let my feet feel the carpeted stairs inch by inch. A found missing flyer was framed on the wall as I paced up and down the hallway my head was out of my mind or was it my mind was out of my head? Screaming. Screaming. Screaming. It never stopped! Where was it! I banged on the wall over, and over, and over, and over again. I ran to the closet door and opened it. There it was; the screaming. There she was; the girl. I couldn't see her, but I could feel the chill. A victim. I closed the door. My eyes crossed and rolled back. A shot of adrenaline shoots up me. The screams poor out of my mouth. I can't control it. I try to close my mouth, but I can't. I start walking down the stairs at a fast pace. Foaming at the mouth I try to get myself together but I can't. Why. Before I know it I'm picking up my gun and walking at an even faster pace out the door, but how. Something's pulling me, but nothing's there. I'm walking faster, and faster, and faster. Past the river, past the boat, into the water, to the shore, through more woods. Walking, and walking, and walking, and walking. I stop. My upper body seems to collapse, but my legs keep me stable. I look around as if I'm checking to make sure no ones there. I take the gun to my head I start to weep and call for help... But I'm already…

Probably a hamster. I have the ability to move faster then my structure would probably suggest to other people! Different types of hamsters have different needs when it comes to company. Some need to be kept on their own and others need other hamsters around them. I think this speaks for me a bit as I am content to work on my own, and get on with it when I am required to but also do work well with others when that is expected of me, and like a hamster I am quick to learn when given new challenges. Inquisitive but I won't go all 'gung-ho' until I understand what is ahead of me and how to approach it the best…
