Rosa Parks Hero

The Civil Rights Movement, was a long journey beginning with a simple act, and ending with a enduring march. One women conquered discrimination against all odds. Rosa Parks is one supporter of the Civil rights movement, and even was the one to start the historic time. Rosa Parks embodies the characteristics of an epic hero because she had courage and strength, humility, and national heroism. Rosa Parks shoes great courage and strength when she stands up for herself on the bus. She was even arrested and sent to jail for her actions. During an interview, she states that “I felt resigned just to give what I could to protect against the way I was being treated” (“Rosa Parks”). Washington High school bit dropped out when her mother became seriously ill.” (“Rosa Parks”) Being humble was represented throughout her whole life, but a major contributor is shown by Rosa dropping out of school to just taking care of her mother. Many children/teens would complain or refuse if their parents asked them to drop out of school, but Rosa went without complaints. School was a big part of Rosa until she had to drop out;however, Rosa taking care her mother made her the person she was. Not only does Rosa Parks show courage and strength, humility, but, in addition, showed national heroism. Once Parks had started and finished the Civil Rights Bus Boycott, she began to be recognized by the nation. The biography on Rosa Parks states that “she is the recipient of many awards” and then goes on to list everyone of the awards that she had received (“Rosa Parks”). The awards go on and on. Honors such as the NAACP’s Spingarn Medal, International Freedom COnductor Award, Congressional Gold Medal, Detroit-Windsor International Freedom Festival Freedom Award.
