Rooms and Main Office
It was the first day of school. They gave us a tour. We gather around the outside next to this fence that sounded the school. In the front were Solar Panels. They powered most of the school. The tour started at the heart of the school. The Administration Building. In it were the faculty staff. Next door was two building. The main office and Storage room. In the main office there were office TA’s. Needed for the transportation of new books. They would transport the books on Carts. They went to the library. From there they go to Class Rooms. As the toru went on I was getting hungry. Turns out they have snack bars all over the school. They even have a place to sit down and eat. Its a building with no walls. Just pillars to support the roof. All this one the very foundation of the school.

Crisp, golden light creeped out from behind my curtains into my bedroom on a cool Fall morning, rising me up from my sleep. Once I had gotten myself dressed, I shuffled downstairs to my kitchen and poured myself some life cereal and milk. As soon as I had finished the rest of my daily routine that got me ready for school, my mom drove me and my sister off to Finley Farms, which was the school we attended. The school day went by as usual and slinked away, but after a few subjects my class, along with the other 5th graders, were led by our teachers downstairs to a room where we were greeted by a woman who told us she was Mrs.Sopeland. The fifth graders all sat down in a semi-circle formation and waited for the rest of the 5th grade classes.…

32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. But he didn’t have a car? Rufus ran to the office to explain the…

The school, because it was located in an old dormitory, was not the best lit due to its long, narrow hallways with many doorways and no natural light. The classrooms, for the most part, were bright and each room had many windows to give natural light. The rooms and hallways were decorated with artwork made by the students,…

Upon arrival to school students may choose to eat breakfast or students may choose which center they want to explore for an hour. After free time one of the teachers reads Bible stories and sings worship, praise, and inspirational songs with the students. The next step in this journey is Circle Time. Circle time consists of singing, recognizing, and identifying classroom rules, the calendar, days of the week, and the months of the year, weather, the seasons, shapes, colors, numbers, and alphabet. After Circle Time, it’s time for morning snack. During morning snack, the students may choose a snack provided by the school or a snack provided by their parents. Music plays softly in the background as the students are encouraged to communicate with friends. One of the assistant teachers, places the student’s on a line to go to the bathroom; this line is called the “Bathroom Bus”. Another assistant teacher sets tables with marker and worksheets. She also sets out three easels with paint and paintbrushes. The students in Group A trace, with a marker, lines that go across the page. The students in Group B paint lines across the page. As the students come in from their bathroom break, the teacher then invites them to join her on the rug. She uses this time to talk to the students…

These past few years at Lionville Middle School have been some of the most memorable and exciting parts of my life. I came to Lionville Middle School from Shamona Creek Elementary. Shamona Creek elementary was much smaller than the gargantuan, new middle school. Also, there were so many more students and teachers. I expected the middle school to be filled to the brim with classrooms and I was correct. Some of my first memories here are quietly coming into the school and looking for my classroom. I did not even know where to go or how to get there. All around I saw kids getting to their classes right away, while I was stuck in the hallways. Fortunately, I saw a friend and followed him toward my new classroom. When I got my new locker, I had…

Here in his writing, Kozol shares his experiences with students and teachers while visiting Fremont High School in Los Angeles, California. From the beginning, Kozol set the mood for the piece by describing the lackluster conditions of the buildings. He described the lack of sufficient classroom space by saying that "nearly a third of all the classrooms in the school, were located in portables...took place in converted storage closets" (Kozol 641). By beginning his written tour of this school with these vivid descriptions, Kozol instantly placed me inside both the school and a depressing atmosphere.…

Most of us walked through the front door of Lake Country between 8 and 9 years ago. Others of us came later whether it was 5 years ago or this year. The door we came through on the first day we came was the same door we continued to walk through almost every day, up until today. After tonight this might be the last time we walk through these doors, but some people will keep walking through them even after we leave Lake Country. The front dorrs aren’t just regular doors to us students, they are a gateway to all of the memories. These doors hold behind the first day of kindergarden, pictures that we colored with broken crayons and the place where we met our best friends. From the second grade aquarium trip to the Wizard of Oz play and the mideval…

Have you ever imagined of a room that sent such a good vibe that you thought it was too good to be true? Well, that is how this lunchroom was. When I walked in the first thing I say was the bright lit faces of the john Adams middle school students.Their faces were so astonishing that it but a big smile on my face. The poster filled walls were a bright baby blue with a hint of green. The tables were stunning. The colors were so remarkable that they were almost blinding. The pillars that stood high were covered with flyers of all colors. But the best thing of all was the smell coming from the cafeteria. It smelled like fresh pizza out of the oven. But what they were serving was much better than pizza, it was cheesy bread sticks. As my waiter…

Today was the day. Packed to the point of bursting open with new notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, and textbooks, he readied me for school. Instead of bouncing around as rambunctious young boys do, he trudged slowly in a peculiar meter of half-steps toward the doorway. He was living a new life in a new school that was filled with people who might as well have been aliens to him.…
