Problem Domain:
The Roodepoort Dancing Festival is a competition many dancers from around the Roodepoort area look forward to competing in, during the month of September. Dancers go not only to participate and enjoy but also to compete and aim for a 1st award in their specific category with a qualified adjudicator determining the result. Once a soloist has received a 1st award, which normally is a score of 85 % or above and meets the necessary entry requirements, they qualify to dance again in the dance-off’s/finals which is when the winner of a genre along with a runner-up is determined. Some group dance sections are Prestige Evening Qualifiers which means if a group is awarded a 1st in these sections, they dance again in the Prestige Evening

The judge quietly whispers her thoughts to the scribe who takes down the notes via pen and paper. Once the dance has completed, the judge gives the dancer a percentage which is filled in on the score card/report as well as in her own book. Thereafter when she is ready to proceed, she indicates via a telephone, linked to a telephone backstage that she is ready for the continuation of the competition and for the next competitor to enter onto the stage. Just before the allocated break, the adjudicator has to review and compile her notes as quickly as possible before going on stage to announce the results. All goals have been met with the most important goal, time efficiency shown to be their main priority when designing this software. They have implemented a quick solution to entering scores that can be changed should they need to quickly, as well as make sure the processing can easily be completed in a matter of split seconds as well as rank all the competitors in order of score. Should there be a tie breaker, this software has the ability to sort the issue out under the judge’s watchful eye. The results can be immediately printed in order to not waste anyone’s time while waiting for the announcement of the winners. All of this is also completed through a very user friendly GUI. Ultimately, this software can save the adjudicator stress and save everyone’s time at the competition and allow things to progress swiftly without any additional
