Ron Clark Story

Ron Clark is a 6th grade teacher who chooses to leave his home and teach the worst class in a school in New York. In the beginning no one would listen to him but after he tries different ways to get them to try, he makes a deal with them. He learns to double dutch and they learn what they need to for that year. This is an excellent way to help students. It shows them that if you fail you just need to try and try again and sooner or later you will succeed.

Ron Clark brought milk cartons from the lunch room to the class. If they paid attention and kept silent for fifteen seconds he would drink one milk carton. He did this to keep the class entertained and so they would actually pay attention and learn. I find this an interesting way to get children's attention. I do not think it would work for other classes, for example I don't think this would work for the honors class across the hall for Mr. Clark's room.

I think Ron Clark is a conventional teacher and he is more patient then most teachers would have been with the class he had. What the Children did and how he handled it is not what a teacher normally would have done. When the students wrecked the room Mr. Clark just fixed it up and continued on with the rules.

Ron Clark Story was an eye opener for me. It gives me a clearer view of what should be the real purpose of a teacher on their students and in the community. It tells us that teaching is far beyond the need for compensation and employment. His passion for improvement is splendid, for he sees the potential in every personality and amazingly turns it into

Video 0094-Subject: Science, the teacher did well at managing the time in his classroom. In the video there are two parts to how the class interacts; small groups leading into a whole class discussion. During the small groups, the teacher walks around the classroom observing and answering questions in each group. You can see the positive energy that he is displaying as he checks for understanding and cooperative working. The students are engaged and on task. I liked that he checked to see how the groups were doing before he gave the signal that a transition was about to happen. The teacher gives a transition warning so that the students have time to wrap up their activities before returning to their seats. Once there, the whole group discussion…

Blue made sure to see that the students were receiving positive feedback. When each of the students entered the room, they retrieved their binders and all sat down quietly. Each of the students were very respectful to each other in that whenever someone raised their hand to speak, they were the only ones who spoke. There was no character development program or a posted set of rules displayed in her classroom. In her classroom she did the majority of the talking while the students listened and answered her questions. In the high school classroom, there was quite a bit of talking and disruption among the students in the beginning. There were many students who were up and walking around while he was discussing the homework. There was no character development in the classroom. Mr. G didn’t seem tell really be listening to his students, one student had to repeat his question three times. Each teacher provided a way to show respect and understanding to their students, and then the other showed a class room that didn’t have much respect for each…

Mr. Gibson’s insights were very helpful on a human level. The instructor viewed us both as students as well as young adults, something a great deal of instructors struggle with later in their career. His focus on teaching explained this as well. When he said ‘To help others is the most selfish thing a person can do.’ it became apparent how wise this man was. Mr. Gibson to teaching because…

I use to think that being a teacher was going to be a short eight hours of teaching and being with children. Having summers off made being a teacher seem a lot more beneficial to. Being a teacher seemed to be the easiest career choice out there for me. After viewing the second grade classroom in Shepherdstown Elementary it is safe to say that I have changed my opinion of teaching. There is unquestionably another side to the world of a teacher that can only be seen inside a classroom. Watching the students made me realize that being a teacher will no doubt carry some difficulties but, it will all pay off in the end. Observing has made me realize that there is more to teaching, the classroom, and what goes on inside.…

Addiction is a worldwide epidemic. Many people in all parts of the world have addictions. Whether it be gambling, exercise, illicit drugs, shopping, or sugar. Studies show that nearly 80% of people have some sort of an addiction. I have always found addiction and addictive behavior to be very interesting. Some addicts are believed to have been born with an addictive personality. People born with addictive personalities are thought to form problematic, unhealthy, addictions much easier and much earlier in life. Some even have multiple addictions at the same time. Some people do things like run and exercise every day, but to the point that it is not healthy. When things like running or exercise have become not-so-healthy, it usually goes unnoticed. Most people do not see activities such as exercise as possible problematic, addictive, behavior, but anything that is done excessively can become unhealthy.” The unproblematic addictions are the ones that do not cause any problems. An unproblematic addiction would not cause any type of life disrupting issue and is not life threatening in any way, and those are the addictions that ok to have.…

The first hour and a half I spent observing Mrs. Ballardo kindergarten classroom. The type of lesson that I am observing is Math Cooperative groups and the objective that is being worked on in this lesson is that the students can show that they know the numbers by counting dots on a die. When walking into the classroom I immediately felt like this was a class that promoted learning. It felt so welcoming, and the mood of the children were great they were all sitting on the rug and ready to learn. The classroom is arranged with the five tables. When you first walk into the classroom there are two…

I learned to see the other side of these children the more I interacted with them. I watched their jubilant, excited faces as they turned the pages to see the next story and stared at the pictures. I laughed with them at their small successes, overjoyed that I had been a part of helping them develop and mature. It was amusing, watching them as they would stumble over a math problem, but when they finally understood, would look up at me with glowing faces. Their insatiable love of learning, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm during reading time has inspired and motivated me to try new ventures with optimism. Jasper especially has taught me the power that comes from learning to understand a person no matter how irritating or intimidating he/she may be. If we can only be willing to open our heart and mind and listen, our small acts can do indeed do great deeds; so that these children may grow up to be people who will one day be able to change society as I hope to do so in the…

During my eighth observation at the Child Study Center (CSC), I walked in and went straight to the four year old room. Once I got in the room I notice that all the students were on the carpet listening to a College student reading them a story. I sat back and watched and listen to the students and how they were interacting with someone different reading to them at whole group. After the story the college student had an activity for the students to do that went with the story that she had read. The activity that the students had to do was to make a puppet that sat on a stick that they could use and play with. After some of the students finished drawing and putting google eyes on the pictures they then took them to an adult to get a stick taped…

As I placed the car into park, turned the key off and stepped into the crisp cold winter air, I begin to feel my pulse raise. With each step we took drawing us closer to the door, I felt my heart beating faster. With a quick turn of the ice cold door knob, I found myself standing in a whole new world. The food, the music, the faces, the language, everything was different than what I knew. For the first time in my life I was the minority in my small home town of Winamac, Indiana.…

It is getting close to that time when we begin to fill the AP English roster for next year. This year, we will not be testing in for the course, rather we will be relying upon a student's past performance in ELA, the overall GPA, and also previous teacher recommendations. I have just received the list of students who requested AP Literature for the 2017-18 school year, and I am forwarding this list to you to see if there are any students that you recognize on this list who absolutely do not have the skills or acumen for the rigors of the course. The counselors are checking on the GPA status of these students, but I would also like to know from your classroom experience with any of these people if there is anyone on this list that should…

Her classroom was very welcoming. The walls were filled with masses of pictures encouraging learning consisting of colors, shapes, letters, animals, numbers, and objects. There was a schedule on the board showing the times for each subject and a calendar with the current and previous day’s dates on it. In the back of the room, there was a rocking chair with a large blue rug in front of it, where they do their morning meeting, which I will explain later. Overall, the classroom environment was very homey. Ms. C’s lesson plans were interesting, informative and very well planned out. Every morning, her class held a “morning meeting”. It started with a chosen student that sits in the rocking chair and reads the class rules to her peers, who are sitting in a circle on the rug in front of her. They do a greeting where each student says “Sup (name)” to the next. This got the students involved. It continued until they’d gone around the circle. Next, a question is chosen out of a hat and each student has to go around and answer the question, giving the students a chance to communicate with one another. We learned about this in class when we talked about classroom management and how children being involved ensure that all students are a part of the classroom learning community. “Jane Adamd belives in socialized education where everyone is included in the classroom” (Lecture notes, 9-22). I thought the way that Ms. C involved her students was…

I observed Mrs. Collier’s first grade class at J.B. Hunt elementary on Thursday September 13, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated nicely. She had bright posters hanging on the wall as well as many colorful boxes, curtains, and chairs around the room. The desks were set up in one giant “U” with Mrs. Collier sitting in the middle. It was a great set up for the kids because they could easily see her and she could easily see them. The dynamics in the classroom seemed great because she connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. The students behavior seemed very respectful towards her and they listened when she asked them to do something. Mrs. Collier’s equity between her and her students was…
