Ron Burgundy Character Analysis
Literary Elements Paper Ron Burgundy, the author and protagonist of the autobiography “let me off at the top” possess mainly different characteristics that make him so interesting to read about. Some of these include: he’s funny, sporadic, and crazy at times. Even though he has a great personality he can also be: ignorant, egotistical misogynistic, and most of all he’s narcissistic which adds and also takes away from him in the novel. Ron Burgundy has an unmistakable appearance that is known nationally. His one look is a manly mustache, great hair that an anchorman has, gold ring, gold watch, and a helicopter that makes him look important. The only antagonist in the novel is Ron Burgundy himself. In one chapter he wanted to talk about the time he won a trip to Mexico and there wonderful culture and another time he wanted to talk about the time he was stranded in the Pacific Ocean with Walter white and some of their friends. There was no clear rising action in the novel but the most apparent was when Ron Burgundy had to assemble the greatest news team in San Diego. The climax of the novel is when Ron faced his biggest challenge of defeating channel 11 news. Channel 11 news, the second highest rated news team in Santiago, nonstop harassed Ron and his team through the thick and thin. The novels resolution is when Ron saves a helpless bystanders life during a live broadcast and gained the respect of the lead channel 11 anchorman. Ron solved this inadvertently by saving a helpless women in need and by that gained channel 11s respect. The autobiography’s in first person point of view. I know the novels in first person point of view because Ron Burgundy’s the main character and always uses the word I to describe himself. For example when he was talking about the time he was in a prison riot he never said Ron was in a prison riot. He said I was in a prison riot. The time of the novel takes place from the early 1960s to the early 2000s. The setting first takes place in Ron’s home town of Haggleworth. He basically talks a lot about his hometown for the first quarter of the autobiography then he moves to San Diego and the rest of the novel takes place there. The setting of where Ron grew up impacted his social skills greatly. In Haggleworth they solve their problems by belittling each other and progressing to a fist fight. The main theme in the novel is live life care free and to the fullest. And if you care too much about something then it will consume your entire life. And live to the fullest, stay away from the shackles that main kind put on your wrists to keep you in your
