Romeo And Juliet Monologue
The background behind this monologue was when Romeo saw Juliet at Mercutio’s and Benvolio's party, hoping to get Rosaline off Romeo's mind. Before the party Romeo was heart-broken over Rosaline and was convinced that he would never be able to get over her. However, he quickly forgot about Rosaline as soon as he laid eyes on Juliet. The main idea of this passage is basically saying how Romeo has never seen a girl as beautiful and as pretty and Juliet and how he would do anything to see her again. One character trait that Romeo is showing us early on is his shallowness. One minute Romeo is crushed over Rosaline, and the next, he is gushing over Juliet. This is showing that he is in it for the looks and not the actual characteristics or personality
