Romeo And Juliet Hyperbole Analysis
In William Shakespeare’s, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare demonstrated the theme of Identity throughout the play by using the literary device of hyperbole.Within Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare described Romeo as an overly sensitive/dramatic person. Romeo and Juliet were mere opposites of each other yet instantly fell in love with each other. In Act 3, Romeo received the punishment of being sent to exile since he murdered Tybalt. This order from the Prince deeply hurt Romeo. He went to confide in Friar Lawrence and during this conversation, Romeo stated “there is no world without Verona walls, /but purgatory, torture, hell itself” (3.3.17-18). Here Shakespeare uses hyperbole by demonstrating how hurt Romeo was and how he thought there was nothing

    In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet’s repetition shows her uncertainty in choosing to side with Tybalt or Romeo. This is important because it ultimately shows the contradicting obligations she has to Romeo and also her family. Juliet’s contradicting decision is due to Romeo’s banishment and Tybalt’s death and ultimately is over who’s side she should be on. This quote by Friar Lawrence in William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, perfectly sums up two different types of relationships. One of which is represented by Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, who run fast into their love even though their families have a seemingly unending feud. They attempt to keep their relationship secret, which causes complications and ultimately ends in their death that barriers their families feud. A similar, but slower, relationship, which is the second type, is formed as a friendship between Lennie and George, in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, who are ranch hands that end up working on a farm in the Salinas Valley. They spend the majority of their lives together, George, small and smart, and Lennie, bigger but less intelligent, until trouble with a man on the ranch named Curley and his wife leads to George killing Lennie.
