Talk about a horrific love tragedy. Think about Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet live in an interesting scene. Also Friar is the cause of Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. He has a big role in Romeo and Juliet’s lives. Friar is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet by wedding them. If Friar would not have married them. “I’ll tell thee as we pass; but this I pray that thou consent to marry us to-day” (44). This quote means that Romeo asks if he can marry him and Juliet. “For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (45). Friar is agreeing to marry Romeo and Juliet because Friar thinks that if they marry, the households will reach peace and not fight. Friar gave Juliet a sleeping potion so she doesn’t have to marry Paris. Juliet doesn’t want to marry Paris because she is already married to Romeo. She would sleep for three days straight and act like she is dead. “Take thou this vial, being in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off” (81). This quote means that Friar gave her the vial and also told her to be in bed when she drank it and then will appear to be dead. Friar is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s lives. The last reason that Friar is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is when Friar didn’t get the letters to Romeo on time therefore Romeo killed himself. “I could not send it – here it is again – nor get a messenger to bring it to thee” (96).
