Act 1

BENVOLIO: What sadness lengthens Romeos hours?

ROMEO: not having that, which, having makes them short.

BENVOLIO: In love?

ROMEO: Out

BENVOLIO: Of love?

ROMEO: Out of her favor where I am in love.

[Exit]

[Enter Capulet with Paris]

PARIS: But now, my lord, what say you to my suit?

CAPULET: Let two more summers wither in their pride,
Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride.
She is the hopeful lady of my earth:
But woo her, gentle Paris, get her heart,
[Exit]

[Enter LADY CAPULET and JULIET]

LADY CAPULET: Marry, that ‘marry’ is the very theme I came to talk of.
Tell me, daughter Juliet, How stands our disposition to be married?

JULIET: It is an honor that I dream not of.

LADY CAPULET: Well, think of marriage now;
The valiant Paris seeks you for his love.
Speak briefly, can you like of Paris’ love?

JULIET: I’ll look to like, if looking liking move:
But no more deep will I endart mine eye
Than your consent gives strength to make it fly.
[Exit]

Scene 4:

[Enter Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio]
ROMEO: Is love a tender thing? It is too rough,
Too rude, to boisterous, and it pricks like thorn.
And we mean well in going to this mask;
But ‘tis no wit to go

Scene 5:

ROMEO: [To a Servingman] What lady is that, which doth enrich the hand of yonder Knight?

SERVANT: I know not, sir.

[ R+S, Stand to side]

TYBALT: Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe,

CAPULET: Young Romeo is it?
Content thee, gentle coz, let him alone;
He shall be endured

[Exit Capulet and Tybalt]
[Enter Romeo and Juliet]
ROMEO: [To Juliet] If I profane with my unworthiest hand
This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this:
My lips, two blushing pilgrims, read stand
To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.

    Death always tends to grasp people's attention, especially the deaths of children just like in Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare. For the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet, the Families, Friar Lawrence, and Fate all played a part. First, the Capulet Family pushed Juliet to get married without considering how she felt, as well as Friar Lawrence, who planned for Juliet to fake her own death by giving her the potion. Although, they are only partially to blame, ultimately, Fate is the most to blame for both the children’s deaths due to Romeo and Juliet being destined to be together. Because of this, there is no way they could have avoided this tragic incident.…

    Context has been a major faction contributing to the way Romeo and Juliet was written. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Baz Luhrmann produced a Romeo and Juliet with a modern context rather than an Elizabethan context. Context has influenced the language and representation of ideas throughout Romeo and Juliet, notably with the themes: Loyalty Vs. Disloyalty, Power and inequality. These themes have changed the way Romeo and Juliet was written and put them into a different context.…

    This scene serves as a contrast to the preceding scene in Friar Laurence's cell. Mercutio and Benvolio are in a merry mood as they walk along talking and laughing about Romeo whom they think is still pining away over Rosaline. Benvolio mentions that Tybalt has sent a challenge to Romeo. Mercutio then gives a long description of Tybalt's eagerness to fight. Romeo comes along in a good mood after his talk with Friar Laurence. They engage in a series of puns matching their wits against each other. Along comes Juliet's nurse and Peter (her servant).…

    William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” contains many different representations of love, some of which are based entirely on looks, and others seem to be more in depth. Love based entirely on looks is called lust. In “Romeo and Juliet”, impulsiveness is a tragic flaw present in the characters Romeo, Juliet, Lord Capulet, and Friar Laurence. Romeo’s impulsiveness is found in his reaction after the Prince banished him. Juliet shows impulsiveness with her willingness to partake in Friar’s plan, and kill herself if everything fails. Lord Capulet’s reaction when Juliet objects to the wedding. Their impulsiveness leads up to the upcoming tragedy of the play.…

    Marriage is a great honor and also requires a great deal of compromise. Lord and Lady Capulet suffer from a turbulent marriage. Capulet always has dominion over his wife and her actions. At times during the play he simply dismissed her opinions without regard. Throughout all of Act IV Lady Capulet simply goes along with her husband’s plan to have Juliet marry Paris. They also fail to show deep affection for each other at any time. The relationship between them is one of supremacy and…

    In the playwright, Romeo and Juliet, there is a great deal of love, and as we all know it does not end well. There are many reasons why this story ended tragically, and I believe it is due to love at first sight theory. Personally I do not believe that love at first sight exists. I don’t even think it is relative to possibilities. It would most likely be the visual appeal of the man or women that lures the lovers to each other. As a teenager myself, I can personally say that young people, in general terms, do not have the capacity or experience to properly fall in love with someone, and definitely not even close to a lifetime of love which is being suggested in Romeo and Juliet. My opinion about arranged marriages are not that high but I am on a competent basis with them, they allow you to make the feeling of love over the course of many years with your partner. Now concerning the statements that you have to follow what your older, wiser parents have say about your marriage, or if you wanted to make your own life decisions. For me it doesn't matter if you listen to your parents or make decisions of your own. It all depends on the situation you're in, say that you had a relationship with someone for a long time now and your parents disagree, I would go with my own decision. If I had a love at first sight moment, and my other option was an arranged marriage, I would go with my parent’s decision. If my parents disapprove of my choice, I could try to make it work out but no guarantee they will accept what I did. You will most likely lose the relationship with your family and all if you go on your own decisions but you’ll be with the love your life. Over the course of two years we have had a very large infli…

    Escaping society and all its rigmarole was a difficult task, especially once you’d accepted an invitation. ‘’ London hasn’t changed.’’ James muttered under his breath while standing in the shadows getting some much needed fresh air on the balcony. Open double doors allowed him to keenly observe guests attending the Hargrave ball. A ball he himself regretted attending. Lifting a lit cigar to his lips he blew out another puff of cloudy smoke that hung thick in the air creating a heady mist.…
