Juliet says that if Romeo really loves her then he will marry her. Which Romeo agrees. (II.II.143-144) “If that that thy bent of love be honorable,/Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow.” Juliet is telling Romeo that if he really loves her then he will marry her and give her an answer, of marriage,by the next day. This is Juliet being stupid since she only just met Romeo and already wants him to marry her to prove his love. The stupidity grows stronger and leads them closer to death as the story goes on. In the story, when Romeo hears the false news of Juliet’s death, Romeo asks for poison and offers gold to the Apothecary in exchange for the poison. The Apothecary accepts and gives Romeo the poison. (V.I.77-79) “Put this in any liquid thing you will/And drink it off, and if you had the strength/Of twenty men, it would dispatch you straight.” This conversation between Romeo and the Apothecary is the Apothecary selling Romeo poison that Romeo uses to kill himself later on which his death causes Juliet to kill herself. If the Apothecary did not sell Romeo the poison, maybe he would be alive long enough to receive the news of Juliet’s fake death.
