Role Of Automobile In The Great Gatsby
The 1920s was widely-known as the age of prosperity. With the economy booming, life was much easier and enjoyable because of new technological advances and emerging forms of entertainment. Henry Ford’s contribution to the auto industry revolutionized society and bettered the economy. With the introduction of the assembly line, many vehicles were produced faster and more efficiently. Mass production of autos resulted in the price dropping and allowed for many people, including the middle class, to afford it. The influx of automobile ownership was very demanding and became a part of everyday life. In Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, he utilizes the idea of automobiles as motif to portray the degrading generation of the Roaring Twenties

It also does a good job of focusing on the music then. Music was a major part of that time period as it was being to emerge more. One inaccuracy was the style of music used. For the movie, they imitated the style of music but they modernized it and changed it to fit in this time period. The city was also incorrect. For the movie, they added many colors and there was always something new to be seen. They added onto the city for the movie to make it seem better and larger than life, when a city during that time period was still exciting but not as over the top.
