Roe Deer In Switzerland Research Paper
Switzerland's diverse landscape allows many animals to thrive. In south east Switzerland, there are the illusive roe deer. The roe have a beautiful red-brown coat with a grey face in the summer season, and a very light grey coat with white throat in the winter. The mountainous terrain of the alps houses the chamois that seems to defy gravity. They also have colorful coats that change with the seasons, and can walk on rocky mountainsides without slipping. And next to a river or lake you might see a marmot being stalked by the predatory lynx.

Animals living in the tundra have evolved to cope with, or avoid, the harsh winter conditions. Some, like grizzly bears, spend the fall eating huge quantities of food in preparation to hibernate through the long winters. Other animals, such as bobcats and red foxes, are adept at hunting out the hidden habitats of rodents. Most of these animals have thick coats of fur to protect them from the cold. In the summer, insects flood into the taiga and birds, including the bald eagle, migrate north to feast.…

Jean Birrell’s “Who Poached the King’s Deer? A Study in Thirteenth Century Crime” narrates the illegal hunting of forests which were supposed to be under the protection of English monarchs from a period of approximately mid thirteenth century to fifteenth century England. The study covers forest laws enacted by monarchs after the Norman invasion, the difference between ‘respectable’ poachers and peasants looking to feed themselves, the way in which such poachers were punished, and the impact of events relating to poaching and forest laws during the period of study. However, Birrell’s seems to believe that Norman…

A lot of valuable information is given to the reader throughout the book Ultimate Deer Food Plots by Ed Spinazzola. Personally, I’ve been able to take everything presented in the text relatively easily with the help of my prior knowledge. All of the advice in this book is relative to my life every year. If I had to choose however, the points that have stuck with me the most are: the importance of correcting soil as well as past vs. present land management layouts. Both of these topics are so important when trying to create great hunting land. Starting with soil correction, I have always known how critical it is to have good soil (based off of my own food plot results). My dad and I’s first food plots didn’t turn out great, as expected. Barely…

The history of white-tailed deer in Missouri shows positive and negative influences humans can have on wildlife. During presettlement times, the whitetail was abundant in Missouri, especially in the more fertile and diverse habitats of northern Missouri. The influx of European settlers to Missouri during the last half of the 19th century coincided with a rapid decline in the deer population. Unrestricted market hunting and habitat destruction, such as cutting, burning, farming and grazing forest lands, contributed most to this decline.…
