1. Discuss the importance of Republic Act 1425.
Republic Act 1425 is an act to include in the curricula of all public and private schools, colleges and universities courses on the life, works, and writings of Jose Rizal, particularly his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, authorizing the printing and distribution thereof, and for other purposes. This act is about the contribution of Rizal in the Philippines. Studying Rizal’s life can be a great help for everybody especially the youth. It can help the people to be nationalistic and patriotic. Since Rizal is our national hero and a good example for everybody, we can idolize him and follow his lead. Another one is that with this act, students can have knowledge that Rizal is just a simple student in his youth. With this fact, students, like me, can strive and think that if Rizal can be a hero, so can we. It is stated in the act that students must take up the course about his life, works, and writings. I believe that we can get many lessons regarding his two famous writings because it is about his experiences. We can read in the novels that there are good and bad people surrounding him during his time. Those happenings can be related to what are happening in our everyday lives. One fact about Philippines’ history is that Jose Rizal is one important person of our history. We know that he fought for our country. It is one good motivation to fight for our country if there is any threat. With all these reasons, I believe I can say that every one of us has a potential to be a hero. A person can aim high to achieve his goals and dreams. And with these, I strongly believe that the law is very important and it is right that the law makers made this act.
2. Discuss the life of Rizal during the 19th century.
Jose Rizal was born on June 19, 1861. During the 19th century, Rizal took his time in travelling and writing novels. He went to Spain for a secret mission. Then he went to Singapore, Colombo, and many other countries.
During that time, he met some girls who made his heart pound and skipped a beat. One girl stands out and he asked her for a marriage, she is Josephine Bracken.
He started to write Noli Me Tangere in Madrid and it was published, later on, in Berlin. He also got misfortunes in Madrid. His second novel, El Filibusterismo, was started in Belgium and it was published in Ghent.
Also, during the 19th century, Rizal was executed because Spaniards accused him that he is supporting the Katipuneros because of the books and novels he wrote.

Rizal’s reputation as a hero is well earned. He hated how the Spanish treated the natives of the Philippines, whom the Spanish called Indios. Finally, I had watch the movie Rizal, though I wasn’t able to started and ended it well. The story was great. Rizal was too brave to do that in his own country. I think he do that because of his love in the Philippines and Filipinos. He has a lot of pride in his self. His heroic deed was a good example for the Filipino.
