What information about diversity in the United States has helped you better understand or relate to others in ways that you may not have in the past?

In my studies I have found confirmation of my belief that diversity in the United States will only improve with time as the increasing number of interracial unions increase. I have also affirmed my belief that so long as society chooses to put people into groups we will always have issues surrounding fair treatment of people from all walks of life. It is the collective mentality that harms our nation the most. So long as people are divided they lack the strength to overcome governmental intrusion into their personal lives. So long as “we the people” are divided we will continue to see attacks on various groups of people, rather than the peace that unity can bring.

Have you learned something new about your own racial, ethnic, or cultural history?

I have learned that there are similarities between my own culture and that of others. For example, I was surprised to learn that head coverings are not limited to Muslim women but also include some devote Jewish women. I found it intriguing to learn the history behind it and how to put one on. I did experiment with this at home out of curiosity and perhaps to feel a deeper personal connection to my roots. What is frightening to find are quotes such as this,” “The myth of the Holocaust is an industry that America invented,” Shihab-Eddim said, leaving no room for doubt that the Egyptian government -- like Iran 's -- has at the very least significant elements that deny humanity’s greatest crime of all. “U.S. intelligence agencies in cooperation with their counterparts in allied nations during World War II created it [the Holocaust] to destroy the image of their opponents in Germany, and to justify war and massive destruction against military and civilian facilities of the Axis powers,

During and before WW2, a great tragedy occurred: The Holocaust. The Holocaust was a systemised genocide orchestrated by the Nazis and targeted at the Jews, Roma, and other “Undesirables”. An interesting fact is that Germany was a diverse, scientifically advanced country, so how were the Nazi able to take over with all of their talk of “it was all the Jews’ fault” propaganda and racism? It’s an interesting collection of facts, but while researching them, I discovered something that made me sick. Genocides still happen to this day!…

Diversity in the united states in not something new here but in fact spans back many generations. Diversity is everywhere and no one can truly get away from it, but by accepting it a person can learn how to lead a better fuller life with variety of understanding for the people that come in contact with. I feel that the biggest thing I learned in this call about diversity is not that there is diversity but that there is a lot of work to be done to farther the peace action between the groups of people knowing this make me realize that the us is not yet a unity but is trying and gives me more will to make my voice heard that we need to start accepting one another.…

Avi Benlolo, in the newspaper Toronto Star that provides articles to citizens in Canada, constructed an article called How to stop the spread of anti-Semitism, that suggests that in order to stop the spread of Anti-Semitism across the world, people need to be fully educated on the Holocaust. To support his claim, Benlolo gives examples of Anti-Semitism in modern day, saying “The internet multiplies the power of conspiracy theorists by allowing them to easily find each other and share their hatred with like-minded and susceptible souls. Questions about whether or not the Holocaust really happened, or whether the Jews have inflated the numbers of those murdered, abound” (Benlolo 1). The author’s purpose for the article was to persuade people…

The United States is a diverse country, racially and ethnically. Six races are officially recognized: White, American Indian and Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, and people of two or more races; a race called "Some other race" is also used in the census and other surveys, but is not official. The United States Census Bureau also classifies Americans as "Hispanic or Latino" and "Not Hispanic or Latino", which identifiesHispanic and Latino Americans as a racially diverse ethnicity that composes the largest minority group in the nation.…

From the past to the present, a multitude of racially diverse people has been moving to or being birthed in America. Even though , times have improved for people of color and society is becoming more open. There are still signs of negative aspects that support a racist, homophobic, ego driven society. Personally, I am a product of many of these Majority-minority cities such as New York , Atlanta , and San Francisco. However , as stated , “ The moment when people of color become the majority in the United States sounds great, but it's not going to be a Kumbaya moment ( page 165).”As immigrants and people of color transform the racial dynamics of the workplace, the same ole systematic problems will be present. Just by adding a larger amount of diverse people won't change the problems. This is the problem with modern day companies, groups, and universities in America. They believe by increasing the numbers of people of color, all will be saved and better. Unfortunately, this is not how the world works. The problem might become better or more manageable, but it would be fixed. They are just putting a soft tissue bandage over the problem. One day, the bandage will fly off in the wind or get wet and the problem will haunt them again. This time it will come back infected with bacteria and stronger than the first time. Together with growth and learning, we all can live in a more equitable and equality driven…

The Holocaust is one of the most remembered tragedies in history. It is unfathomable to presume that another human being was capable of causing such terror and horror to millions. The tragedy is widely known and recognized for those who were victims of Hitler and his depraved mind. Yet, one doesn’t know that the world is gradually resurrecting the horrors of this catastrophic event. It is possible for a Holocaust to recur once again and will continue to be a threat, so long as there are people who use others religion as a mechanism of hate, ignorance, and live in fear and vulnerability.…

Geographically Asian American make up less than 100,000 throughout the majority of the U.S. California, and New York make up the majority by having 1.3 million or more, next TX, IL, and NJ have 500-900,000, and 200-499,000 in WA, MI, PA, VA, GA, and FL. Socially they receive very little media notice like the tens of thousands that was displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Known as the model minority, because of the prejudice and discrimination they have experienced, they have succeeded, economically, socially, and educationally without resorting to political or violent confrontation with the Whites. They ceased to be the subordinate group, and no longer disadvantage. Asian Americans have been active political through collective action and recent through seeking elective office. They continue to embrace both their unique identity as well as border Pan-Asian identity. South East Asians present in the U.S. are from waves of refugees, and just disperse in to larger populations. Although there has been moderate progress and many attempts to further unify races over the past decades, there is still a considerable division. It appears that Blacks will be acknowledged as being less important and treated with little respect in our western society. "He who is less than just is less than man" (55). As we have learned from the history of racism in the Deep South, people treat other races poorly not because of a person’s social and moral traits but because of the colour of their skin. This notion is evident in the book, where people refer to it as a “Lack of Unity” (32), showing that there is a clear division between white and black people in all aspects of life.…
