Ridgewood High School Creative Writing
Oh gosh a new school, a new year. I never liked this moving back and forth thing every time Dad gets a new job. There is no point in making friends, but this year will be different I thought, as I waited for the bus to arrive. I started to see the ugly mustard yellow bus approach me. As the door to the bus opened, the smell of damp, wet towels that have been sitting in a pile for weeks on end ,and overly sweet perfume punched me in the face. “Maby this year won't be so different after all,” I thought as the bus doors opened. Ridgewood High I thought a new beginning, but I ran to my first class, honors calculus. I was scared to approach anyone based on my looks. I have dark brown hair, dorky square glasses that are too big on me that I …show more content…
B. But guess what the cat dragged in, Gianna. She was running 5 minutes late according to her slip, I wasn’t buying that for a second. She then looked at me and made a grin like the Grinch. This was horrible, I thought I was away from her, but now the fun just begins. In art we were doing paper mache, when layers of paper glued and pressed together, molded when moist to form various articles, and becoming hard and strong when dry. For the next couple of days everything was going good, until we needed the paper mache glue. When I put my hands in, it was all cold, and felt like jello or something gooey. I thought I was cool, but Gianna didn’t. She thought it was gross, however when she placed her hands in the glue she flung it right back whacking me in the face, But once again I was being blamed for the whole thing again, I got 4 detentions for harming other students safeties.
The next couple of weeks have been a bore, I just talked to some nerd in my science class. Still no friends, I just sat there while the world spinning around me. I started to head to my locker wishing the day was over when a piece of paper fell out. I picked it up it was in the shape of a heart saying. meet me after school at 2: 30 pm in the theater room, I want to see you. I was filled with excitement, “is there really a boy wanting to talk to

It started out like any other day. I got out of bed and scrambled to get out the door after I took an extra hour in the shower. I hopped into a seat next to my best friend Erin. We talked for the ten minute ride before finally arriving at school. I sat down in homeroom waiting for the bell to ring. Brrriinnngggg! I rushed to Mrs. Gregory’s room for Lit. Everything was fine until gym class. I had forgotten my assignment notebook in Mrs. Saphir’s room so I ran back upstairs to get it from under my chair. As I started to walk back towards the locker room I heard the bell ring… late! I walked into the locker room hoping Mrs. Dennis wouldn’t notice my tardiness, but my locker is right next to her office. I quickly filled out a minor for before…

I'm six years old, and I'm secretly watching the girls in my class loudly chatting in the corner of the classroom. It's 2008, and I'm quietly sitting on my desk, wondering to myself: "Am I not important enough for a simple goodbye?". I nervously shift on the chair, impatiently waiting for the minutes to tick by. My red sweater is itching against my throat. The teacher came in and we begin class as usual. Ms. Claudia is talking about our final reflections…

We reached The Dalles today. This is our last stop to Oregon city and this is going to be the most dangerous part of the whole trip. We have to take the Barlow Road around Mt. Hood. The road is very messy. There are big rocks guarding the road. Sticks and broken wagon pieces are getting stuck in the wagons. On top of that, everyone is getting sick and have no energy to move the wagon and walk up the steep hill and walking through the narrow paths are hard because we can't walk on the side to hold the wagon up. The oxen are getting too tired to walk anywhere and the other families with mules keep stopping and that makes us run behind on schedule. Many people are dying because they have worked too much and haven't gotten enough sleep. When we…

As he sat stiff backed and upright in the hard wooden chair, Jotham looked around anxiously. He could only see three of the walls, and the ceiling, if he craned his neck upwards, but that was enough to make him very uneasy indeed. They were grey and bare - not silver grey, but a horrible murky grey, that made it seem like everything was closing in on him. The room was rectangular; not at all wide; there was perhaps a metre between him and the nearer two walls, but it was extremely lengthy; probably about fifteen metres long.…

A week later I had returned to school, and it was like walking into a brand new atmosphere. Dirty looks were replaced by smiles and sneers exchanged with hellos. I had even gotten an invitation from Keri Mahan to sit with her and her friends in the lunchroom—which I accepted with a bit of caution. But after I had sat down with them, I quickly realized that none of them had seemed to remember the past all too well or how they’d treated me. They just accepted me as the new girl from Alabama, and that was fine by me.…

The night before I left my home to start school at Kutztown, I cried. I slept next to my mom in her room, surrounded by stuffed animals around my body from my youth, tears streaming down my face. I was scared, nervous, and uncertain about my future. The idea of going to this new place, with new faces, and new beginnings excited me, but choked me at the time. I didn’t know what to think. My anxiety was at an all time high. The first night at Kutztown, I laid in my bed staring at the concrete, white walls, next to a girl I hadn’t known more than a couple months, wondering if this was it. I had spent most of the day unpacking what seemed to be a hundred boxes, transforming a bare dorm into my home for then next year. Cassie and I quickly grew into friends.…

My friend Darlene kept her glance down at the floor while Francine moved over to a different chair as soon as I sat down. At first I did not seem to think anything of it, as it was the first day back to school. The first day back to school is always laid back and tiring. I opened my mouth but not a single word came out, I immediately thought something was wrong when Darlene disappeared to the bathroom without a single noise. Francine glared at me for what seems like hours, but I know to only be seconds. I concentrated on the white walls and how they drifted onto the ceiling. I could not bring myself to look Francine in the eyes at this moment. Whenever Darlene sat across from me, I finally looked up. Believing I was ready to hear the words from her mouth was an absolute lie to myself. Now, once and for all, I listened to the noises that were spilling out, but comprehending them was a different…

I wake with sweat drenching my pillow. As always, night terrors are a recurring part of my morning. One, wake with a sweaty pillow. Two, take pillow cover and possibly pillow to the washing machine for later cleaning. Three, skin care routine. Hygiene is important, no matter what the rest of the guys in our grade say. Four, put on makeup. My mother doesn’t know what I do every morning, for she wakes at 7; me at 5. If only my father was here. He would know what to do. But he left us, and there is no coming back from abandonment. Five, wipe off makeup and hope Mother doesn’t notice my face is red from aggressively wiping it. Six, breakfast. Fruit, mostly. If I feel up to it, I’ll make some vegan pancakes. I try to stay as healthy as possible.…
