Since the Dirt Bikes organization already provides Internet access to all employees who use desktop computers, it would be beneficial to create a private network by using the existing network infrastructure paired up with Internet connectivity standards and software developed for the World Wide Web (WWW). According to Laudon and Laudon (2009), Internet networking standards and Web technology used to create private networks are…

After reading the article “The Composing Processes of Unskilled College Writers” by Sondra Perl I have been forced to understand how writers write. The writing process is a situation that is approached from various angles. In the writing process techniques and sequences from person to person are often diverse, but it is one of the ways one may be expressed. The goal of Perl study was to “see how unskilled writers write, can their writing process be analyzed in a systematic, replicable manner, and what does an increased understanding of their process suggest about nature of composing in general and the manner in which writing is taught in schools.” (191) With Perl performing this observation and collecting several amounts of data I decided to perform an observation on my writing by paying close attention to how I write. With analyzing I realized that my writing process have a very sequential pattern. I also have noticed that many acts of critical planning and editing are carried out through many of my writings and it has had a negative effect on the majority of my writing masterpieces. Subsequent to carefully critiquing my writing I have realized that all individuals have a different way they write.…

    The Big Chief Tablet

On the way home I pulled out all my supplies and gently unwrapped each one. I carefully put them in my box and tucked the big red tablet under my arm. When we got to the house, I jumped out of the car and ran to my room. I couldn’t wait to start writing and perfecting my alphabet. My mother had already taught me to write my name and I could sing the alphabet song since I learned to talk. I wanted to practice my letters because I wanted to write better than my dad. I had heard everyone say that his handwriting was “horrible”. “He should have been a doctor!” my grandma always said.…

Distant Drumming of pens dancing on paper grows as each minute passes. My heart skips a beat, my heart begins to pound in my ears, my heart starts to race as I anticipate what to write next. The clock is ticking and time is running out. A cold sweat engulfs me as I crash into a writer’s block. Suddenly without warning the timer sounds and its is time to stop the timed essay. The throbbing sound of pens gradually comes to a halt. I take a deep breath and try to scan over what I have written. While handing in my paper I start to ponder how it all began. Memories of my struggles in kindergarten pass over me, then, flashes of freshmen year in high school along with thought of my family’s expectations shortly after.…

I was the only kid that year who got a bike and could not ride it. All of my hope and dreams of riding alongside my siblings and friends turned to dust. You see, out of all of my friends I was the only one who did not grasp the concept. Every day after school the kids would zoom by me on their bicycles and there I sat pushing my bike along. After months of pushing my bike, this one summer day I was pushing my bike down the street as I usually did, and my grandmother who unknowing to me had been watching me out of the front door came over to me and said today is the day that you stop pushing this bike. The lesson started my grandmother helped me on the bike and walked along side me holding me up so I could keep my balance, when she let go…

For some when getting sick, the traditional approach, when seeking treatment, is always better such as going to the doctor or locating their local pharmacy. Paul Goble’s “The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses” however illustrates a Native American girl that absolutely loved wild horses to the point that they (the horses) cured an illness she had that not only restored her health but her mind, body and soul as well. In my paper I will look at how important the images illustrate and promote tenderness, acceptance, courage and compassion as well as how they tell the climatic story of the girl and the horses. I will also look at why I believe Goble won the Caldecott Medal of Honor award and what images I feel did the best at telling the story and capturing the moment within the story.…

For almost 6 years I quietly followed along without ever reading aloud or alone. I had learned to vary my methods of getting out of classes instead of learning to enjoy them. I avoiding English with constant nose bleeds and bathroom breaks, even adding the exotic “complications finding my book” excuse to the list; however, my teacher’s response had changed. Instead of pleading for me to participate, he penalized me with poor grades and gave me sharp warnings about my “reluctance to learn”. I did not hesitate to ignore both of these approaches (an easy task for a trained veteran like myself) until it became impossible. In November of my sixth grade year I broke my forearm, an injury that forced me to miss two and a half months of gym. So while all of my friends spent two hours wrestling and playing basketball on Monday and Friday mornings, I was trapped behind a small desk face to face with my mortal enemy: Mr.…

School started at 9:35, and it was a 50 minute walk. Auston had given up on any other solutions to get to school on time, but I hadn’t. I thought to myself what other ways we could arrive to school faster. Cars drove by. Auston and I watched them as they passed. “Only if we had a car to drive”, Auston wished. My brain sparked. “You’re genious!” I responded. We need to ride a car to get to school on…

Gradually the strangers' buzzing became words, and later on it finally became successive sentences to my ears. I could laugh at teacher's joke with my classmates. It’s hard to imagine a life without writing. From research papers, school essays, and resumes, to text messaging, grocery lists, and passing notes during class, writing is a huge part of my daily life. Sometimes I write as part of requirements for a class of to apply for a scholarship or a program. Other times I write to amuse myself or to remind myself to do something. I’ve changed as I’ve gotten older, and my writing has changed along the way.…

Communication is one of the most challenging skills for me. When learning this new challenging skill, I am asked to initially overcome fears against the odds, which slowly appear surmountable with the passage of time. For me the ability of communication is like building a tower, then writing skill is a part of the tower and I call it “wall brick”. In order for this tower to stand the bricks must be strong. Though flourished rhetoric in writing can enhance a paper in some aspects, I believe that a logical structure is the key to quality composition. Wring, in any language, was never appreciated by me. Thus I just had some inferior bricks at first. I kept those low-grade materials and tumbledown “tower” for a long time until I transferred to another high school where I met my wonderful teachers. I used to hate writing, but when I entered my new high school the way I write has been totally impacted and was deeply branded.…
