The first President I pick was Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909) and how he took control of the Panama Canal to better help America with the foreign trades. Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921) on getting America out of World War 1 and building hope back for the American people. Calvin Coolidge (1923-1929) took the people thru the Roaring Twenties when the people were just starting to enjoy life a little more. Franklin d. Roosevelt (1933-1945) trying to give the American people hope to come out of the Great Depression the worst time in American history. Richard Nixon (1969-1974) gave America a black eye with the Watergate scandal but he thought it was for the greater good of the people. Last but not less Jimmy Carter (1977-1981) when he had America boycott the 1980 Summer Olympics to so the other powers to be that we can stand on our own.…

Richard M. Nixon was the 37th president of the United States of ‘murica. He is the only president in American History to resign from his position in office. Senator Nixon drops hints of what makes him seem like a greater and better person. He mentions only once that his parents live in his home in California. Not only that, he was paying them money still for the time they loaned him money, instead of telling them that they were equal because they were living in his home.…
At the time of his first term as president, Nixon's approval ratings were higher than those of President Johnson and he won reelection by one of the biggest margins in American history (Gallup). That is to say, despite the protests and ineffectiveness of his tactics, there was public support for the way in which he conducted the war, especially from the “Silent majority”. Although, this can be attributed in part to the secrecy of his actions, as was case of the bombing of Laos and Cambodia and the sabotage of the 1968 peace talks. In addition, he did effectively end the Vietnam War in 1973. For this reason in the literal sense of the word, Nixon was an effective leader, he was able to influence both American people and politicians towards a common goal, the end of the war. However, because of new information found on Nixon's tapes and in notes from his top aids it is clear that Nixon lacked the moral integrity that characterizes an effective leader. This begs the difficult question, should Nixon's leadership be judged for his accomplishment and the way he was viewed in the moment or should he be judged by the means through which he accomplished so…
Ulysses S. Grant was a war hero and the 18th president of the United States. During his two year term he was criticized for a number of things. One major thing that negatively affected his political career was that he trusted too easily. As a result of this, members of his cabinet, and lower administration got away with everything from financial mismanagement to theft. Once word of this got out he lost support within his own party. Despite immense efforts, Grant failed to apply congressional policies during the years of reconstruction. An example of this would be Grants desire to leave the south with blacks having full rights, he obviously fell short of his goal.…
Richard M. Nixon was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. He was the second of five children belonging to Frank and Hannah Nixon. From a young age the Nixon family was plagued with bad luck. Is younger brother died in 1925 and his older, who he was very close to, died in 1933 of tuberculosis. In 1922, the Nixon ranch failed and his family moved closer to his mother’s family in Whittier, California. His family never had much money, however, Nixon was credited with saying “We were poor, but the glory of it was we didn't know it.” During his high school career at Whittier High School he ran for student body president, but lost to a more popular student. His academic success…
There are many famous United States presidents in the history books, and then there is president Gerald R. Ford. Gerald R. Ford was an unexpected president who experienced great events during his presidency, such as a war, and massacre.…
In the recorded conversations that Richard Nixon, the 37th President of the United States, had with his White House aides, he reveals his motivations and his assumptions about the American public: “Everybody says we’ve got to protect this one and that one and the other one. The main thing we’ve got to protect is the Presidency”. He felt that the presidency granted him immunity to the law. Under his Presidency, an air of distrust of government gradually grew amongst US citizens. He led a criminal presidency yet was never indicted or prosecuted. If he were not President of the United States, he would have faced greater consequences for his actions. In this light, perhaps he was right when he claimed, in his 1977 interview with David Frost, “When…
Scandals, never really a matter but did this not mean that they were non-existent. Scandals do exist in the United States the biggest scandals are the one where everybody is involved I’m referring to the presidential scandals. Society took notice of how government was keeping information a secret. So U.S citizens dove in deeper to the political region to discover these unknown facts. Presidential scandals became more known after LBJ pentagon papers. Then suddenly Nixon’s Water Gate affair took place and the secret Cambodian bombing.…
A president who has single handedly, with some help from his kitchen cabinet, ran the whole president's office and won the Nullification Crisis which could have separated the whole U.S. in a different direction of how it is today. The president Andrew Jackson helped improve presidency, acted upon his opinion, and made many different changes that impacted the United States. Andrew Jackson was considered a hero and monster, his actions have caused many great changes and terrible ones as well. Andrew Jackson had been known as a hero for his bravery, war strategies, and for becoming the first “Log Cabin” president in office. However, some of his disciplinary actions had caused him to become known as a monster. Although, president Jackson is a hero because without some changes, wars, and outcomes of Andrew Jackson then U.S. would not be the same.…

President Nixon, the only president to ever resign from office, was considered a worse president than his predecessor, Lyndon B Johnson. President Richard Nixon was the 37th president, whose term lasted from January 9, 1969 to August 9, 1974. Nixon was doomed to almost certain impeachment in 1973. Nixon resigned in 1974 with the threat of impeachment looming over his head. President Nixon had a poor impression on his presidency title when compared to his predecessor Lyndon B. Johnson because of the Watergate scandal, violation of international law, and attempt at wage and price controls.…
Over time in politics, it has been observed as some presidents or subordinates have been involved in scandals that have raised people’s distrust, after “appearance of corruption or other misconduct" have been revealed to the public through the press. Although today’s political corruption has been decreased in public office, the U.S Constitution created a system called "checks and balances to limit executive corruption."…
