Rhode Island Argumentative Essay
Welcome to Newport, my section of the amusement park! My first attraction is a roller coaster called “Roger Williams’ Roller Coaster”. Everyone has the freedom to ride, no matter how tall or short you are! (But I recommend you to be forty-eight inches tall or higher, because if you aren't, it’s pretty unsafe). This relates to Rhode Island’s history because Rhode Island had freedom of religion instead of in this case, the freedom to be any height to ride, and Roger Williams, who founded Rhode Island, made so there was freedom of religion. My second attraction is a store called “Ye old Greasy Iron Bucket”. It’s called that because it sells iron and oil. But ironically, it doesn’t sell iron buckets, it just sells plain iron. If you want an iron

A new generation had come along and had forgotten the old values of the genteel reformers and became “eager to respond to amusement in a less earnest cultural mood: more vigorous, exuberant, daring, sensual, uninhibited, and irreverent” (Kasson 6). These cultural changes going on were greatly reflected by Coney Island and the entertainment it offered people. Coney Island provided a place where people could escape the big city and enter “a world apart from ordinary life, prevailing social structures and conditions” (41). Coney Island countered the cities atmosphere by encouraging behavior that would have been considered unacceptable in any other public setting. The amusement parks at Coney Island inspired its visitors to be “temporarily freed from normative demands” (41). When people entered Coney Island their customary roles and status were abandoned and everyone became equal to one another. Coney Island accommodated all people, regardless of their ethnicity or social class standing. This aspect was especially important for new immigrants and working class groups. Coney Island included these groups of people and provided them with “a means to participate in mainstream American culture on an equal footing” (40). This contrasted with the atmosphere of the cities and gave the immigrants and working class a better sense of belonging while they were on the…

The Frontier Post, an English newspaper mostly based in the Middle East, released a particularly powerful advertisement in 2013 to promote safe driving. At first glance, it would appear that the advertisement is a picture of a firearm, front and center, placed in the spotlight of an otherwise gloomy backdrop. In reality, the advertisement depicts a set of car keys, cleverly arranged to resemble a revolver. Underneath the gun lies a very somber message, “Takes one life every 25 seconds, Drive Safe”. The bottom right corner displays the organization’s information, and the bottom left corner offers a citation for the hair raising statistic. One could quickly deduce that the Frontier Post was targeting people’s susceptibility to fear with this ad. The advertisement uses fear in order to evoke emotional responses to successfully fulfil its purpose.…

As time and different ethnic groups pass by, America is transforming and shaping their definition of American culture. So far, America went through the change of becoming more urban and industrial. With society that’s focused on industries, leisure and fun was a rare thing to think about. Soon enough, Coney Island emerges to serve as an escapade from the strict genteel order. Kasson argues the fact that Coney Island was more than an amusement park, it was known as the visualization of the new American culture, straying away from the Victorian Genteel order, at the turn of the century.…

My fellow Americans, I have come to speak to you about the partisanship that we see in our government. We as Americans are witnessing a time where our government corporate with one another in the worst way possible. A time where bipartisanship has torn our government up greatly. A time were the gridlock in Congress ceases our ability to boost the economy and create jobs. The fact the some in Congress may much rather see their opponents lose than to see America win, is extremely disappointing. People we have many options in this great country we live in.
