Peter S. Goodman, an executive business and global news editor. In the article “ Foreign News at a Crisis Point ”, asserts that foreign journalism needs to change. Goodman supports his claim by first defining the crisis of the situation, next illustrated the needs for change in journalism, and demonstrating the urgency for reliable news. The author’s purpose is to convince foreign news policies to alter in order to provide accurate news. Goodman asserts an urgent tone in order to appeal to his audience’s sense of values for global news.
In Goodman’s article, he defines the crisis of foreign news by alerting his audience. For example, he establishes credibility by stating the “American Journalism Review”. Goodman concerns his readers about the amount of full-time journalism jobs that are lowering. In making this comment, Goodman urges us to realize communities aren’t receiving the amount of news they should be. To put it another way, the city can be in danger when it comes down to not being aware about other crisis happening around the world. According to Goodman, “In the intervening eight years, 20 American news organizations had entirely eliminated their foreign bureaus.” The essence of his argument is that the astonishing drop of full-time journalism careers

Goodman demands we should have 18 senior reporters out to retrieve news instead of a nonprofessional person to be posting it on social media. The author describes that it isn't helpful for the audience to receive news from unreliable sources such as twitter, facebook, instagram etc. There needs to be a greater amount of journalists that are being hired by actual news organizations.
