Red Hat : RHCE & RHCT

To attain an RHCT certification, you are required to complete two Red Hat Courses namely: RH 033 and RH 133. Individuals who are interested in completing an RHCE must complete the requirements for an RHCT (RH 033 and RH 133) along with an additional course RH 253 before they can attempt their RHCE certification. Details of the RH 033, RH 133 and RH 253 courses and their curriculums and what potential candidates can expect to learn from these units is mentioned below:

RH 033 Red Hat Linux Essentials – 32 hours

This Course is ideal for persons who have never used Linux or UNIX, and who have no prior command-line experience in any other operating system. You are taught the basics of a Red Hat Enterprise Linux enviroment and it prepares you for your future role as a system administrator.

Pre-requisites: User level experience with any computer system, using a mouse, menus and any graphical user interface.

RH 033 Prepares You for RH 133- Red Hat Linux System Administration

RH 033 Course Objectives

• Understand the Linux file system
• Perform common file maintenance tasks
• Use and customize the GNOME interface
• Issue essential Linux commands for the command line
• Perform common tasks using the GNOME GUI
• Open, Edit and save text documents using the VI editor
• File access permissions
• Launch applications from command line and GNOM interface
• Printing commands and utilities
• Customize X Windows system
• Regular expression pattern matching and 1/0 redirection
• Copy files to and from a floppy diskette
• Install, upgrade, delete and query packages on your system
• Network utilities for the user
